Can you bite into ice cream?

greenjumpergreenjumper Posts: 891Registered Users
I cringe every time I see someone bite into ice cream. I can literally feel the pain in would cause me if I did the same thing. My teeth have been overly sensitive since I was a little kid.:icescream::icescream::icescream:

Can you bite into ice cream? Anyone else have sensitive teeth? Do those special toothpastes really work?

I can, although I do have sensitive teeth.

    Ime, special toothpastes don't work.

Heck no, just the thought of it makes me cringe.

I use sensodyne it doesn't help much. I also use Colgate phosfur mouthwash because it has more fluoride than your average mouthwash, doesn't help much either.

The only way I can eat ice cream is by biting and chewing it.

I was skeptical about the toothpaste. Thanks for the replies.

Biting into ice cream is definitely cringe-worthy!

Prior to my first pregnancy I couldn't. During that pregnancy and since I can, no problem. I wonder why that is...

I can now, but two years ago I couldn't drink or eat anything even a little cold--never mind ice cream. I had gum surgery and ended up with extremely sensitive teeth. I was given the prescription of Sensodyne for it. After finishing the one tube of that, I switched to the Sensodyne you can get in the stores. It does work. Very well, in fact. I can bite ice cream, drink ice cold drinks, chew ice, you name it. I never have issues with sensitivity anymore. Unless I stop using my Sensodyne or use something different for a day. It does work, but it only works if you use it every day and as your only toothpaste. It will also stop working if you use any mouthwash.

    Noooo.

    Shudder.

Bite into ice cream - shudder.
I get a weird headache when I do that. Also, when I drink something cold really fast.

Seeing people bite into popsicles - double-shudder.

People chewing ice - run away screaming!!!!!!

    Good god no. *shudder*

I use the Sensodyne Pro Enamel toothpaste. It's the best of the sensitive toothpastes I've tried. I have exposed dentine as well as well as sensitive teeth. Too much brushing!

I can do it but it's just not right somehow! I do like biting into ice lollies though and always eat the ice at the bottom of a glass. damsel_fly would hate me!

I can't do it with my front teeth. *cringe*

But if I bite with my side teeth or back teeth (pardon my technical language) then I can do it, only if I have to finish it in a hurry.

This topic is funny to me because when I was a kid my dad actually used to make us bite our ice cream. If you were licking your ice cream cone or novelty he'd be standing there insisting "Bite it! It's gonna melt!" Every time, Dude. Even popsicles. It was weird.

No, I can't, and no, they don't. I've always had super-sensitive teeth and thought it was normal for the longest time...until I saw others chewing ice and biting ice cream. I can't even drink room temp liquids "normally." I have to kind of gulp them because I have to open my mouth as the liquid passes over my teeth--looks funny and makes a gulping noise in my throat. I use straws whenever possible to avoid being offensive to anyone and to avoid the pain.

And, with ice cream, I make really funny faces in moving the ice cream around inside my mouth so that it doesn't settle in one place too long--all of my teeth are sensitive. I usually only eat it in the privacy of my own home.
OK, I admit it.....I'm an alias! I wasn't born with the name Honeycurls!

I can't bite into an ice cream cone, but I can take little bites of an ice cream pop. I hate that hard chill feeling I get when I bite ice cream.

I was never able to eat cold things as a kid, but my teeth are getting better as an adult without using a sensitive toothpaste. I still am cautious, though. I can bite with my front teeth, but I suck on it for a second towards the front of my mouth before I swallow. I eat popcicles the same way. I'm very prone to "ice cream headaches." I can chew smaller pieces of ice with my back teeth without much difficulty, but I'm paranoid about chipping my teeth, so I don't.
