Do you get similar frizz?

diasporadiaspora Posts: 596Registered Users
My hair always has some amount of frizz, and I'm ok with that. You can see it in the first pic clearly which is pretty close up. I took them today of 2nd day hair, but it has this frizz on day 1 also.

Just wondering if anyone else has this kind of frizz and if so, do you accept it as part of your texture, or have you found products or routines or ingredient sensitivities that eliminate it? Thanks!

Yeah, I guess I only consider it frizz when I'm being picky, or comparing my curls to people who have really smooth, frizz-free curls, which I shouldn't do!

How do you use the honey? Add a few drops to your LI or styler?

    And your hair is gorgeous!

I have the same thing! Even on the best hair days. I am wondering if more moisture will solve it. I'm going to DT more often (I am lazy and have only been doing 1/month) and I will also be trying a richer LI - I love kckt but think it is not moisturizing enough. I'll let you know I'd any of it works...

The KCKT was definitely not moisturizing enough for me. It detangles really well, but that's it for me, I don't buy it anymore.

I've been DTing once a week, PTing once a week, and using a really rich RO (Aubrey Organics White Camellia) and a styling cream that is pretty moisturizing (Alba), but I still have this frizz. When I use gel, I have less of it, but my hair feels dry the 2nd day with gel, even with a rich LI underneath. I'm expecting AO Mandarin gel to arrive tomorrow, maybe that one won't make my hair feel dry as it wears off. I loved Biolage Gelee but I avoid parabens now so can't use it.

    thank you! So is yours!

I mix it in my flaxseed gel! about 1 tablespoon

I read of ladies adding a very small amount on top of their stylers

    It gives AMAZING shine too

Be careful not to add too much...

Oooh, I am going to try this tomorrow! I don't make flax seed gel as of yet, but I will add a drop or 2 of honey into each dollop of my styling cream tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks Nike! And as I'm going to Whole Foods today anyway, I think I'll get the ingredients for the flax seed gel...

I didn't notice it in your pics in the "bangs" thread or your avatar. But then mine doesn't show up in most pics either unless they're super close. Yeah, I'm pretty much fine with this frizz too, and people have commented on how "frizz-free" my curls look when I think they look frizzy, but another part of me wonders if I can minimize it. I'll report back on if the honey makes a difference.

I have it too! I get alot of flyaway hairs and frizz that's "in between" curls. I noticed when I use lots of protein and/or humectants (glycerin and aloe primarily) it gets worse. I recently tried sealing with oil -- fail.

Part of me accepts "some" frizz but I know sometimes technique, weather and certain ingredients make it worse.

I get it all the time, regardless of what I use.

Honey did nothing for me in that case. (and I'd much rather *eat* honey then put it in my hair)

I just consider it part of my texture, and that kind of frizz gives me serious volume, so I kinda like it!

If I get an upclose pic, you can see it. I'll try to dig up one...Also the pics in the bangs thread was taken from my webcam, horrible quality.

Alright, the pics below are from back in March. This was a really good hair day for me.

P.S. Looking at the first few weeks when I started CG and looking at my hair now, my 2 parts curl so much better. :]

I tried taking some up close shots. My hair is still somewhat crunchy (haven't scrunched out completely hoping to get decent 2nd day hair). You can already see the in between frizz. This is much better today because I used no protein and minimal glycerin.

after i did my hair today, i was wondering the exact same thing! do other curlies get this frizz? and does it ever go away? i figured since i just started the cg method a month ago that maybe i hadn't been at it long enough. or that with my dense hair it's par for the course.

It's not really moisturizing for me, either. But I did give me shine! I have a quick question: Did anyone have any side effect(s) from the KCKT? When I used it, it made my hair feel weighed down almost, and I didn't get any volume! I also thought that I was losing too much hair as a result, too. I just don't know. Has anyone had any issues with it?

Wow, I actually thought maybe I was the only one to have this going on with my hair. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. And my ideas that this kind of frizz has to do with density or curl size has been blown out of the water too, as our hair types vary.

I get this kind of frizz too - as others have said, it doesn't really show in pics unless they are close up. Since I've started using FSG and eliminating protein, aloe and glycerin from most of my products it has helped, but there is always a some frizz.

I tried the honey today and it's probably not the best day to test, as it's rainy and humid here and that always affects my hair (but "optimal" curls/dews according to the Frizz Forecast, I will never understand this). It definitely did something-- my hair is still not quite dry after 8 hours, that's long even for me, unless I use something like KCCC. I didn't get the normal crunch I get while my hair dries, which worries me that I won't have the hold I usually get. My usual kind of frizz is still there, and my hair feels a little oily (though I guess it's honey, not oil). I'm intrigued enough to try it again though, maybe in my RO conditioner instead of my styler. Not to guano the thread I started, lol, but honey's a humectant like glycerin, right?

Please do! It seems like you have it figured out better than I do, but would love to share tips.

My honey experiment was a fail. :( 10 hours to dry and I look like I have a bad '80s perm with frizz that looks like the kind I've gotten when I used too much glycerin--not the kind we've been talking about in this thread, but pure, no definition frizz. Well, now I know! I still appreciate the suggestion.
