I am thinking of going a little darker...and I want to know if I use semi permanent dye, am I risking any damage at all?

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

Ooh....or what about Manic Panic? I used to use that when I was younger...didn't strip it...just wanted that tinge of bright odd color. Am I too old for that?

I'm thinking maybe doing semi perm dye to make it darker....then in a bit doing some manic panic maybe over a part of it....in like blood red, or burgundy...what do u think?

This a bit of a late reply, but you're never too old for Manic Panic :). I keep saying that I am going to dye part of my hair pink again (Manic Panic color Red Passion), but I'm slightly afraid of what my colleagues will think.

I used to semi-perm dye my hair for several years before I wore it curly. After I went CG though, my scalp wasn't happy with dye. Now I'm thinking of giving it another go because I want to cover a few pesky white hairs (I'm only 23, I want to look like it).

I would venture to say that some semi permanent colours will actually damage the hair a little bit, some hardly at all, and others.. who knows.

I wish I could help with more knowledge about different brands. I do know that Goldwell's Colorance is very very mild and, when used properly does not damage. It's professional only, though, so you'd need to get it done at a salon.

Well...my hair doesn't feel damaged...but some of the bristly new grow in front have gotten a little sparse after. I'm sure they'll come back.

And Manic Panic...I need to get some. I wanted to do just the longest layer purple...I used to do it on college...with my dark hair it just tinted it...but I thought it looked cool

I don't think that semi-permanent dyes are damaging. At least, none of the vegetable based dyes that I've used, like Manic Panic. But if you want the tint to be vibrant, try Special Effects. It's like Manic Panic but the results are vibrant and last much longer. You can find them at punk.com and other websites too. I actually get mine from eBay. My hair is a vibrant deep red color right now and I love it! Well, hope I helped. :)
