How do I get my fro back after flat ironing?!

Sooo....I flat ironed my hair about a week ago for the first time since I've been natural (which has been a year and some change now) and I didn't really like how it looked straight so I tried to wash it out. A week later and four or five times washing it, my fro has yet to come back. I don't know whether it's just heat damage or what but I'm really not happy. My hair is natrually a 4c texture however right now my hair is still straight! I didn't use any chemicals when I flat ironed it so I don't know what's going on. I really don't want to cut it again and go through the whole process again. What should I do?

I'm 3c, but usually after flat ironing, my hair needs some kind of deep conditioner to bounce back. Sleeping with my conditioner in my hair normally does it for me, but you may (ironically) need something with heat. Or, if your hair likes protein, you might want to give it a try? Mine doesn't, so I'm not sure if it'd help someone who does in this situation.
Roll Tide!
I was at the 2009 and 2011 BCS National Championship Games :)

Medium-coarse, super high density, normal porosity, low elasticity.
I'm currently trying out various Curl Junkie and Devacurl products.

Definitely consider a protein treatment followed by a deep treatment, or try Curl Junkie Repair Me, which is a protein treatment and deep treatment in one.

When I have damaged by hair with heat (and also with dyeing it), I use the Repair Me followed by a deep treatment (even though the Repair Me is supposed to combine protein with deep treatment).

I've sometimes dyed my hair and been so horrified with the results that I dyed it again (permanent dyes) the very same day. My hair becomes limp straw - without a curl in sight. That's when I follow the routine above.

Good luck - your curls will come back for sure. There just sick - not dead. As long as your hair isn't breaking or splitting, they will revive. Please let us know how it is going. :flower:
2/c Coarse hair med. density.
Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

You definitely need some kind of treatment to condition and revive your hair. Try Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Treatment Kit. I use the oil on its own and it works great, so I'm sure the kit would do wonders on bringing your natural hair back.
