pool and swimming hair?

FmasuhrFmasuhr Posts: 1,354Registered Users
so swimming season has started yay! i really love swimming and plan on swimming every day. today was my first day, after i got out i put a bit of oil in my hair, though it was still really fizzy and dry and just not nice.
does anyone have any advice as to how you can protect your hair and while still looking good?
also what does any one have an after swimming routine?
i still want my hair looking good when im swiming or lying in the sun, and i dont really feel like getting bad split ends or what not from all the chemicals in the water. so any advice would be great :)

my hair: 3b, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
Oils and my own procuts are my hairs best friend
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.
:hello1:

If you're going to be swimming every day, you should probably just invest in a swim cap.

Siri types my posts for me.
    Kiva! Microfinance works.

    Med/Coarse, porous curly.

I second a swim cap, but understand if you don't want to wear one (I probably wouldn't) I have read that you should get your hair wet and coat it with conditioner/oil before getting into the water. This is supposed to prevent the hair from absorbing as much of the chlorinated water. Then wash it/rinse it asap after.
    FIA: 2b-c/f/i, normal porosity/elasticity I think?

If it was once a week or so, I'd say conditioner soak. But, every day? There will be damage no matter what you do if you're not covering it up.

That's true! I did not think about the cumulative effect since I only swim occasionally. I bet you could find a cute swim cap to match your suit :colors:

every day is our goal, but i doubt itll work :D i hate wearing caps, i used to when i was little n hated it then, plus they give me bad head aches. I think i might try rinsing before and oiling as well...... will update when i work it out
