Fun times with curls?

I'm usually a wash and go kind of girl. No fuss, throw up in a ponytail after putting in leave in condish and revlon something gel found in my salon..I'm now at the age where I really want to play with my hair and have the fun and easy looks you guys have without the disasters with products I've tried (mostly drugstores with few salon stuff). Is there a way I can appreciate it more and learn to have fun with it instead of it being a hassle EVERY time?

i think curly hair looks gawjuss when its half up half down, or when its not quiet done. or still a bit messy if you kind of get what i mean? i have a really cute hair pin, n i just twist my hair and put it all up in the hair pin. if we're going out, then ill pull bits out so that its half up, or that i got random bits coming out or hanging down my face. its a matter of playing with your hair and finding somthing that you liek

;-)I can relate to the messy but gorgeous thing! Sometimes when I've gone through the whole routine from start to finish, taking my time, expecting my curls to look their best, they can rebel and not do what I want them to. Then, on the days when I just throw them up into a messy updo, without putting much effort in, I get compliments about how good it looks, lol! :laughing9:

Same here! It's those days when I've thrown my hands up and not bothered with products & styling that I'll get the random compliment from a stranger. I guess less really is more. :laughing6:

I'm with Fmasuhr on this one -- half-ups are the way to go! If your hair is long enough, you can do lots of fun stuff with just half of your hair -- fancy, sporty, elegant, whatever -- and the rest will be down to show off gorgeous waves/curls.

I also agree that messy/natural is great.
And I'm a sucker for braids -- any braids! French herringbone might be my favorite, gathering the hair into a ponytail when you're done and voilà. Quick and looks complicated. But also side braids, Dutch or French braids, crown braids (look great and princess-y in a half-up)...

There must be something to that. I always get random compliments on my hair from people on the days that I haven't done much to it, or on the days that I think my hair looks awful ha ha.
