I dont like how my scalp feels with No Poo!

MyrnaMyrna Posts: 2,332Registered Users Curl Neophyte
I had to break down today and use my Avalon no sulfate shampoo. My hair still looked good - but I did notice a difference. The Deva stylist said to only use the No Poo for now - but I dont like how my scalp feels! it itches and does not feel clean.

If no poo makes your scalp itch, I'd definetly stick with low poo . I don't consider them harsh and I've heard so make hair moisturizing, even if they contain some detergents. Have you tried cowashing? It doesn't really work for me but it really does get rid of any scalp itches and helps to moisturized the hair. HTH
    Lo-poo:organix Shea butter shampoo
    Co-wash: suave coconut
    Rinse out:GFTN/GVP conditioning balm
Leave in: GF daily care spray leave in
    Serum-like product: still need one
    Gel:LA looks sport gel/ HESMU,GFPC
    Oils: olive, coconut

    I think I'm normal-overly porous, medium-thick hair(although I see fine hair too), love protein

Ditto, Myrna! The Deva products all made my hair heavy and gummy. I prefer lo-poos by Shea Moisture or Jessicurl lines. My hair and scalp are left clean but not dried out.
3B, fine, normal to low porosity

I just cant wrap my brain around washing with conditioner. The No Poo actually sounds better to me than conditioner. I know some curlies alternate between No and Low Poo. I may go speak to my stylist tomorrow.

Yeaiknow what you mean. For me cowashing does more harm than good, sometimes water washing is much better but I'd definetly recommend lo pooing which is like using shampoo but without the drying effect

I found that No-Poo took a few days to get used to. I still like cleansing conditioners (more so than straight co-washing, although I do that too), but I found that I like CJ Daily Fix better than Deva No-Poo.

If you are scrubbing the no poo into the scalp, and scrubbing it out, with lots of water and you are still not liking it. No worrys. Just make sure your using a sulfate free non striping cleanser. What we are looking for is clean but not parched. Then just keep on pumping up that moisture:)
