It's weird. I am the only one of my close friends with any form of curly hair. I'm not joking. And I have a lot of close friends. Also my twin sister has straight hair. Go figure.

It's weird, I almost grew up not aware of the whole "embrace the curls" thing. I thought my waves were like a mistake, or something. Because so many girls had straight hair. Before I was old enough to get a straightner, I would brush and brush and brush my hair wondering why the heck it refused to stay down like everyone else's. Anyone here had a similar experiance?

Now I take pride in my waves which so many of my friends are jealous of. We rock, curlies!

I can definitely relate to brushing and brushing when I was younger. My hair was straight with a slight wave when I was younger then in 4th or 5th grade it got super frizzy*since I didn't know how to take it* I thought brushing it would make it shiny and eventually straight. Nature did not agreeXD It's only been in the past two years I've started the journey towards loving my hair.

One of my best friends has tight kinky curls she's just started to grow this year so we've been comparing notes about that(: I hate when our friends tell me to straighten my hair though or act like the curls I have are the worst things in the worlds.

I'm getting much more accepting of my 3a curls since I've been accepting me! I love being a curly and I'm so happy to see other people who are.

Awww that's really sweet!! Yes, I agree with you, accepting being a curly is a lot easier! I know what you mean about the straightening thing, too. When ever I straighten my hair I hate when people tell me to straighten it more often. It's so annoying!

I know one curly and one wavy, but the former I barely know and the latter always has her hair in a bandana.

Girls with straight hair still ask me why I don't have a hairbrush in my purse. Oy.

Omgosh, that's so me. Either everyone had perfect straight hair or perfect effortless curls and swirls. Flat irons wernt around like they are now. Parents all had thin straight (or curly permed because it was so pin straight) so, go brush your hair was heard a lot!
Boy do I wish I knew half of what I know now!!!

Sent from my DROID X2 using CurlTalk App with accidental obvious autocorrect errors throughout.

Yes!! I hate when people make rude comments about brushing hair like for example: (this actually happened once)

ME: ahhh my hair so tangley today!
my "friend" (with straight hair): well you know, if you like, brushed it, that might help.

One day I will brush it and bring in a picture of the big frizzy mess.
