KCCC and Low Porosity Hair.

The other day I thought I would bring KCCC and KCKT out of retirement. I co-washed and used a rinse out. I even made sure that the rinse out was thoroughly rinsed out because they say KCCC will not work well with anything but KCKT under it. So, I applied KCKT to soaking wet hair, raking it through, then I used a spray bottle to add even more moisture to my hair. After this I applied KCCC and as soon as it hit my hair, It froze. I used the tiniest amount, maybe a nickel size, as I have mid-back length hair. I don't understand what happened. This had happened before which was why the product was retired. I was wondering if any other low-porosity curlies had the same experience, or if KCCC works for you, how do you use it?

I'm trying to understand what exactly this "freezing" thing is that I hear a bit about.
When I first started using KCCC I noticed that it had more "stick," in that it really grabbed onto my curls and held them there as I scrunched. I think this is normal. I haven't had any weird reactions with KCCC while using other products, so I'm not quite sure what this "freezing" is. Can you describe it more? Because it almost sounds like what I've experienced, but my curls turns out great ad I love that about KCCC

its basically like as soon as the product hits my hair it gets stiff and doesn't move at all, then i try and scrunch it and it just disfigures my curls. I have tried raking and scrunching it in, but in both cases end up with stiff and crazy hair.

I just took it out of "retirement," too. Only because I liked a lot of products better. I don't think KCKT is moisturizing enough for my hair, so use lots of other products with it and have never had an issue.

My new favorites with it are the Curly Kinks Satin Roots or the Curly Kinks Curlycue ReNew. Get fabulous hair with either combo.

I've experienced this with both KMFUM and KCCC. Some people call it "flash drying". La Bella lots of curls gel did this slightly, but not bad. I think KMFUM was the worst. I have found that when combined with my homemade FSG, KMFUM doesn't flash dry as much.

I have also experienced this with GFPC, but not with LALSG or Deva Arch Angel. I may have to do some ingredient comparisons.

Has anyone else found a way to prevent flash drying?

Also, How much KCCC do you use? When I apply any other gel, I use quite a lot, but since I know KCCC can be a fickle friend, I just dipped in two fingers and applied what came out on my fingers. When I first started CG, I could use KCCC and not have this problem. I would think with greater experience, I would have better results, but that is not the case. I am still really lost with KCCC. I don't know, I just have had good results before, so I cannot figure out what has changed.

So today I tried KCKT and KCCC and I experienced no freezing or flash drying. I just scrunched it in! I think the major difference was the condition of my hair. My hair is now very well moisturized.

My only complaint is very visible frizz. However, someone did compliment me on the definition of my curls. I might try a little LALSG over the top. But it was actually a success today! YAY!

I have a jar of KCCC. Had it a for a long while and I have never used it. Seeing folks have hit or miss results makes me hesitant, esp when figuring out what leave-in to use under it. Based on ingredients I don't think knot today would be enough for me, but idk.

    So that's what it is!!!

    I experienced freezing with KCKT

It's definitely not moisturizing to me, but looking at the ingredients I can see why...

KCCC no longer did anything for me hair, but my hair always preferred V05 Strawberries and Cream under it instead of KCKT

So I have finally conquered kccc. I have used it many times now with no flash drying. I know that I need to add a harder hold gel on top this time of the year, but it gives me great curls. I guess the learning curve is not just a myth.
