Also due with #3 soon. We cloth diapered both of my sons although I think I did for not as long with my second. I don't really remember.

I think it's great, but it is also time consuming or could be a bit pricey. We ended up purchasing a really good washer that uses less water than the average washer. I think if you don't have that, you'll be spending lots more money than you anticipate. Another option is to do a diaper service. I've never done that.

Luckily my MIL was excellent at helping out with the laundry. I have so much laundry piled up now, I really fear keeping up with kiddo #3 to the point where I'm not sure if I can handle cloth diapering.

For my first, I purchased the Mother Ease diapers second hand which requires a separate cover. Again, not the easiest choice, but economical for me at the time. I used the same set of diapers for both kids. I'm not sure if they will last another kid though. I guess I'll find out soon - LOL!

If I knew I was having so many children, I would have splurged for one of those all in one diapers or something easier.

So even if you do splurge on something like an all-in-one, you may be able to recover your costs by selling it second hand. Just something to consider.

Of all the covers, I liked my wool ones the best. Again, pricey but easy to use, and you can get multiple uses out of it.

Hope that helps a bit. There were some old threads on this forum about cloth diapering. Search around.

Thanks! my husband laughed at me when I told him I was planning on using cloth. He said "you hate doing laundry why would you add more" I'm getting really excited to try it I have my diapers all bought and ready with the exception of some prefolds I had to reorder because I had ordered the wrong ones with my first order. I told myself 6 months get through 6 months and go from there. I've had so many people with negative comments though that I see it as a challenge and that makes me even more determined! Congratulations on baby # 3

I should add that my husband is now supporting me 100% and gets really upset when people are negative about it

I cloth diapered my son and get a little sad that at 2.5 yrs old I haven't been playing in the cd world for 6 months. Though I bought a few pocket dipes (we use them at night) about 5 months ago since it was a great deal :)

What kind of dipes did you get?

It takes some trial & error to figure a good wash routine for you. Personally I found that I really like Country Save (we have hard water).

I am cloth diapering my 4th son now, he's one month old :) he is in fitteds and covers now because I find that works best with all of the newborn blowouts. I love pocket diapers for the later stages though, fuzzibunz are my absolute favorites. I also have prefolds and covers because they are cheap and fill in when I don't have my favorite diapers clean. I don't mind laundering them, what's another load when you are doing laundry nonstop anyway? :)

One hint is to get a diaper sprayer hooked to your toilet when your baby starts solids and you need to flush the poo. I can't imagine cloth diapering without one!

I haven't started using the cloth diapers yet I'm due in a couple of days though so I should actually have a baby to use them on any day now :-) For right now I have prefolds and covers and a few pocket diapers for later. I'm a littler nervous but I'm sure after a couple of weeks or so I will start to get the hang of it. I have so many people who don't think I will stick with it I feel like I have something to prove. I got a pack of newborn dispoable and a pack of size 1's for a baby shower gift (they made a diaper cake) so I will probably use those at night and maybe when we are going to be in the car awhile.
