Styles Salon in Hyde Park, NY

I found this salon on NC.com, but it had no reviews. I saw Sue today to get my color fixed. I previously highlighted my hair but stopped a couple of years ago and was tired of the two-toned look. I skipped the trim because I have a Devacut scheduled in a few weeks (I had no desire to pay Devachan prices for a single process color).

Sue gave me the best explanation of single-process color that I've ever heard. She explained that it was going to look a little bit dark today because of the inevitable fading that will occur. She also was very upfront with me about the likelihood that I will need to do this again.

What really got my attention more than anything was that Sue didn't treat me like a hair-obsessed crazy person when we spoke. I compare it to when I see a new doctor for the first time--I have a non-clinical medical background and doctors react in different ways to someone who can comfortably speak their language without an MD at the end of their name. I suspect it's probably the same thing with stylists, but I was pleasantly surprised when Sue not only took my knowledge in stride, but was happy that I had the understanding that I did. The color looks exactly like I wanted, an as I was walking out the door, I heard Sue turn to one of the other stylists and say, "She was very impressive."

Hmmmm. I live 35 mins from there 45 at most this may be a closer alternative for me if I do decide to change stylists. I love mine and she is so understanding about what she can and cannot put in my hair but I hate the travel time. I'm frequently in Poughkeepsie so this may be more convenient. Thanks for telling us about it.

Yea it is. Most of the curlies in NY seem to be in the Westchester, NYC area. Not many in Dutchess.
