BC on Wet or Dry Hair?

CurlyFocusedCurlyFocused Posts: 12Registered Users
I would like to BC this weekend :) it's been 20 months and it's time to let go!

The stylist only wants to cut my hair while it's dry. This is sooooo not what I want :( So I might just do it myself.

How should I approach my hair? It's so thick!!!!! I'm nervous I am going to mess up my hair ladies!!!! I worked too hard to do that! Lol :)

Why is cutting it dry so bad? In my case, it gave my stylist a good look at where the demarcation line began, and to better assess the damage as she cut off the relaxed bits. After, she wet it down, trimmed it up a little more, and then styled it, it was perfect.

Can't you ask your stylist why she wants to cut it dry only? And tell her you have a preference for wet cuts?
Wurly, fine, thin, moderately to heavily porous. Mod CG.

I would do it myself on dampened hair. When I cut off my heat damage it was easier to see what needed to be cut when it was damp. Good luck either way!

I did my own bc on wet hair. It seemed easier because I could see exactly what was permed hair. But I think u should do what u feel I'd more comfortable

I had intended to book an appointment with my stylist, but I eventually got frustrated with the different textures and just BCed myself. I wet my hair and applied conditioner because it really enhanced the difference between my naturally coily hair and my relaxed ends. It was important to really define my hair in this way because I was just working with a mirror and squinting to see the differences in the back of my head etc.

I think it might be a different case with a stylist...even if looking at your dry hair, she would likely be able to tell the difference between the textures. If you trust that the stylist is a professional, you should be fine.

Either way, talking to your stylist about your reservations wouldn't hurt.

Thank you sincerely ladies! I really want to do it myself, but I'm nervous about cutting the back. I may just beg my Mom to do it lol

I did my own BC last night. I did it while my hair was wet. I did a mini chop a few Weeks ago. And I decided last night that I had enough.
