What are your fears?

slinky1slinky1 BannedPosts: 1,612Banned Users
Do you have fears? What are your biggest fears besides losing your SO or your kids (no brainer)?

Mine are:
1. I'll one day be homeless, or near homeless, or hungry,
2. I'll never be happy or be able to make myself happy,
3. I'll lose all of my family and friends and have no one to talk to or nowhere to go.

I'm also afraid of the day that both of my parents are dead.

If you don't have real fears, your answers can be really superficial. Don't worry if yours aren't as serious as mine are.

I have a fear of being old and disabled and not having anyone to care for me. This is a real possibility since I have no kids. I am currently taking care of my father so I see how much help can be needed when you start losing your physical and mental abilities. This year I am taking out long-term care insurance on myself.

    2) something happening to Bets

I'm not afraid of dying, but I am afraid of leaving my son motherless at an early age. It's what happened to his father and a whole world of problems came into play. Some things are choices, but sometimes, once a piece of a puzzle is gone...the rest of the picture just falls a part...if that makes any sense. Some occurrences are like a ripple effect in the rest of your life.

#1 right now is something going wrong with the baby.

#2 is raising children in this world.

-I will never love food the way I used to :) (I didn't realize how much pregnancy alters your taste buds)
-Something may be wrong with the baby
-My husband and I won't be as close after the baby comes
-I will fail at being a good mother

    - I'm not afraid of dying, but I'm afraid of getting old and weak.
    - I'm a "grass is always greener on the other side" type of person, so I'm afraid I will never be truly happy no matter what I have or accomplish.
    - I'm terrified something will happen to my little dog. I go into a panic whenever he gets even a little sick.
    - I'm scared of making the wrong decisions and regretting them later. Because of this, I really stress myself out making any decision that in any way affects my life.
    - I'm scared of people abandoning me, which makes no sense since I've never been abandoned in my life. I hate being alone.

I am afraid of dying before my kids grow up.

Also not so much afraid but concerned about their upcoming teenage years - hoping that they make the best choices for themselves.

I can't think of anything I'm afraid of, when something happens I just deal with it.

    1. Never having kids. This is definitely my TOP fear. I've wanted to have kids since I could remember, always had that "mother" instinct and wanted to take care of people/things. There's a good chance I never will be a mom, and it is incredibly unfair as far as I'm concerned.
    2. Definitely the day both my parents are dead as well. I was an odd kid, and I used to worry about this when I was little, too. It makes my eyes tear up just to write it.
    3. Dying alone/loneliness in general/dying without anyone to care that I am gone.
    4. Dying young. I've always had this weird fear about this/thought that I would, for no particular reason. Again, don't even like to WRITE it.
    5. Watching people that I love destroy themselves with drugs, and ruin their kids' lives in the process.
    6. Being cheated on.
    7. Spiders

    Yes, spiders.

Why do you think that, Rheanna? If you'd rather not answer, that's fine... but it seems a sad thing to say when you're still so young.

    1. Dying and that there is nothing more than life on earth
    2. That I'll never be able to bring a pregnancy to term

    1. Death. I don't wanna die, I don't want my parents or my brother or my boyfriend to die, etc. And if I could choose how NOT to die, I would, because I am terrified of being set on fire, drowning, choking, etc.

    2. Bees. I'm allergic.

    3. If I ever have kids, I am so afraid I'll be the worst mother ever, or I'll resent my family because I never have time to myself. I get annoyed already with never having "me" time, and all I have to deal with is my boyfriend and my job.

    4. I'm afraid of getting a potentially fatal illness like cancer, and losing my limbs or becoming paralyzed in an accident.

    5. I'm afraid of my little niece growing up without getting a chance to meet her because the court system constantly favors the mother, no matter how unfit she is. I'm afraid she'll grow up to be a stupid, manipulative tramp like her mother, because she has no positive influences in her life. :x

    6. The dark. I feel silly saying it, but I hate being alone in the dark. Even in my own apartment, if the lights go out, I will freak out until I can find a flashlight or something. A couple weeks ago the power in the whole town went out while I was walking home from work, and I almost keeled over from a panic attack.

No, because I think you've already had to face your fears and triumph.

Not that I like them either. I'm actually jealous... I'd rather be afraid of snakes than spiders. Snakes don't generally hide in dark corners of your home, or come up through a drain... UGH.

Maybe. I've already faced death in the form of a bad auto accident when I was younger, and after that nothing really scared me anymore. When people were crying and freaking out during nighttime bombings in Iraq, I used to roll over and go back to sleep  .

I'm very unemotional. There's actually a medical term for it but I can't remember it right now.

Or walk across your pillow when you are sleeping. I get chills just thinking about it.

The other day I pulled a book out from my shelf at work and a black widow walked across the top of my bare foot! I screamed and my boss came running in to find out if I was okay. He is also afraid of spiders but killed it for me.

I admit, I'm afraid of spiders.

We've all heard stories of the long-lost boa constrictor poking his head out from under the toilet seat, and I'm terrified of tropical vacations and the possibility of snakes coming in from all directions. No rain forests for me!

I have a phobia of drowning. It sounds a little weird, but when I was younger I almost drowned in a swimming pool... just thinking about drowning for too long makes me hyperventilate. Those documenteries on how to escape from a car that's underwater? Totally freaks me out. The same with escape artists in a water tank trying to escape from all the chains... *shudder* My worst nightmare.

That's the only irrational fear I have... I'm of course terrifyed something will happen to my family or one of my close friends.

My biggest fears have always been losing someone very close to me and infertility. Both of those have happened so I don't guess there's much else. :?
