Ouidad Carve and Slice

Hello, there may already be a discussion board about this, but I was curious to see what experiences people had with growing out a Ouidad Carve and Slice cut. I have 3C hair that I am growing out from a Brazilian Blowout done in Dec. 2010. I have been getting Deva cuts for a year (and CG since that time) and have not done a round brush blowout since Feb. 2011. My hair is growing, but is growing out to more of a pyramid effect. The Deva salon in my area is about an hour away with traffic, but a new Ouidad certified salon just opened up about 10 min. away. I have heard with the Ouidad cut, it is easier to round brush out, than with the Deva cut, but wondered what others thought. Thanks for any input!:sunny:

When I went CG 2 years ago, I just got the Quidad cut. I know I didn't like the products. The cut I would have to say wasn't worth the price. After about 9 months I could see fly-aways. For me the carve and slice doesn't work. I did get 2 Devacuts after and much prefer those.

I got a ouidad cut and I'm STILL loving it!!!

Now my hair loves the products because it loves protein but I make sure not to overdo it and use moisturizing gels in between.

Detangling and styling time has been cut in time and styling is easier, that I was shocked at.

empressri - Your hair looks great! How often do you have to go for cuts/trims with a Ouidad cut? I'm guessing it's different for everyone but I just want to make sure that I'm not going to have to get it cut every 6-8 weeks since I don't have the $$ for that.

I've gotta plug this in here cause Sondriel is too funny!

Sondriel (The Great!) @ Ouidad Salon NYC - YouTube

She said every three months BUT....I figure I'm going to do on my birthday which is december. She just shaped my hair for me, no trim.

I do need a trim now but I only trim about 2-3 times a year. I think I can sort of maintain the shape on my own but when it gets bulky again I'll do the carve and slice.

Thanks Empressri. I think I'm going to take the plunge and visit a Ouidad salon here in Jersey.

I'm still on the verge. My big concern is the cost and upkeep at this point. I love the prices that my Deva salon charges for cuts, color, and highlight. I am going to go to the Ouidad salon for a consult and see what the cost to keep it up would be. But, making sure my hair grows out healthy would be worth it. Good to know that people have been able to use other products besides Ouidad to keep up with the cut. I wonder if I'd be able to use the Ouidad shampoo/ conditioner/ deep conditioner and then go to a cheaper styler, like the Biotera Gel from Sally's? Thoughts? I have 3b hair that had its last chemical treatment in Dec. 2010.

Brianna - I don't use any Ouidad products right now but I think you'd probably be okay using a different styler with their poos/conditioners. You might not get the same exact results (kind of like when people use KCKT with KCCC versus using a different brand of conditioner with KCCC). Good luck in your decision. I'm calling a Ouidad salon tomorrow to schedule an appointment.

Empressri - One more question...With the Ouidad cut, do you find you can get 2nd or 3rd day hair? Or is it harder because of the different lengths of hair? I'm guessing it doesn't matter but I want to be sure since I'm definitely not a fan of having to wet my hair and start over every day. Thanks!

I got the carve and slice cut, aaaaand... it's average. I mean, I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It's just 'meh'.

It's been almost close to 3 months since the cut, but I still have the layers and all that, so I'll give credit to that. Still looks fresh, know what I mean? I think that any "curly" cut can look good between 3 to 6 months, depending on how fast your hair grows. My hair grows painfully slow, so I think that 4-5 months for me should do it.

I'm curious about the Deva cuts now. I want a cut that will emphasize my curl pattern (make it curlier) and help me attain the look I want, which is big, volumous sexy hair.

Whirlyhair - Thanks for your input. I'm really hoping the Ouidad cut is my answer. My Deva cut has a nice shape to it but my hair is HUGE. I really just need less mass and volume.

I have an appointment for a Ouidad cut in 2 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed...
