Hi everyone I am new to the forum but I am hoping to meet lots of new CG friends. :) I have been naturally curly for a month now. I have no chemicals in my hair or color. I have just decided I am not going to straighten it anymore. I love my curls and can't wait till they are at least shoulder length. I am hopping to find some support for those days I am tempted to break out the straightening iron. I am using the CG method and my hair loves it. I deep condition once a week so now I just need some patiences. :) I included some pictures of my hair. :)

Im new too, I have been growing my hair for almost 4 years now, started out with a bleach fried pixie. Im only now just past BSL (curly) MBL (straight) I hope to get to MBL (curly) waist (straight) by the end of this year though I am allowing for trims (<3 my creaclip)

I dont do chemicals (anymore, in the past 12 months I have done a few things but now Im really done) I am an ex henna head (removal of henna is explanition of chemicals...) I CO wash, little heat, lots of DC, moisture and oilings.

I do use Manic Panic once in a while and natural color temporary/semiperminant from time to time though.
I have TONS of pictures, but am just getting the hang of this site and have to go feed my children now. Will try to make an album or two later.

I would love to see pictures! I haven't figured out how to make them big yet. I think I started an album but I don't know if that worked either. I am pretty excited for my hair to grow it's never been to my shoulders before how sad is that? LOL

Hello!! I am in the midst of growing my hair out for approximately the 4 millionth time! I have been cutting and growing my hair since elementary school so this is old hat for me....well maybe not growing it longer as a wavy gal. I've been mod-CG since December of '10 and my avatar is the most recent pic of me so you can get an idea of my length, give or take half an inch.

I cut my hair into a slightly inverted, chin-length bob last April and loved it but only when it was straight. No matter what I tried to do, I couldn't get good results wearing it naturally. I think now it's because my wave pattern doesn't start till a few inches down from my scalp so my hair needs some length to really get the waves going. I do color my hair but only every 4-6 months and I rarely straighten it anymore. I'm hoping in a year it'll be down to my shoulders. :icescream:
2a, fine-med. text, normal porosity (I think)

My waves are finally getting stronger thanks to weekly PTs and longer hair in general. Still trying to grow it out though!:headbang:

mod-CG since December '10

I have Celiac's Disease so no gluten please!

My hair is basically my hobby!!

Hi :) I am growing my hair out now after cutting out lots of heat damaged straight pieces and deciding never to flat iron it again. It sucks waiting lol. I have my hair in braids for now to keep from hand in hair syndrome.

Ugh I am having a hard time today. Maybe I am just having a bad hair day. Plus it doesn't help when someone at work says "whoa crazy hair today." I am thinking I am trying way to hard. I might be over doing it with product and conditioning. I still need to find a hair routine that works for me. Plus someone on the newbie forum told me I have I have 3a type hair. My hair is 3b 3c I don't know why that bummed me out but it did. Just venting I guess. :)

I had my hair longer than it ever was two years ago, then cut it. It was great for about a month, and I've been growing it out ever since. I could tell a huge difference the first few months in it growing, and now it seems like it just stopped! By the time it grows a little, it looks so unhealthy that I have to get it trimmed! It's so annoying, but you have inspired me to NOT straighten my hair. I usually straighten my hair at least 3 times a week.... I know, horrible. And I'm going to try to drink wayy more water! Do any of you take any vitamins? My mom told me prenatal vitamins make your hair and nails grow, so I took them for a while, and I think it helped, but when I ran out I just never got any more. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Thank you all for your nice comments and stories. It helps me keep going on days I feel like I want to bust out the flat iron. I don't take any vitamins but I do drink lots of water. :) I can tell my hair is getting longer just after two months so I can only imagine how much progress a year will make. I will keep you all posted on my progress each month. :)

Wow your hair looks great! I can totally see a difference in length and in the curliness of you hair from your first pis to these last ones. Keep up the good work!

I am growing my hair back to WL stretched (again) after cutting it to APL for the third time two years. This last time I cut it to better deal with the massive amount of postpartum shedding I was experiencing. The pic in my avitar is when I was pregnant almost a year ago. My hair is now just above shoulder length curly and just below APL straight.

I have been following a strict CG routine for the past three weeks or so and am loving it. This is my second time going CG (my first was in 03) but it is my first time going hard core (finger combing only, no bad ingredients ever, frequent co washing, absolutely no heat). This time around I am not just avoiding sulphates, I am avoiding any shampoo that lathers. I can already see a huge improvement in my hair and I am hoping to be back to WL this time next year, or at least close to it.

I look forward to seeing your progress! Your hair looks amazing and I can tell it is going to be absolutely stunning long.

Thank you so much! Glad to hear your sticking to the CG method as well. I was telling my friends the other day and they just about died when I told them I only wash my hair with conditioner lol. :)

I feel like my hair is stuck at one length. I have done everything from deep conditioning once a week to sleeping with a sating bonnet on my head. I don't use heat on my hair and I have been doing the curly girl method for 5 months now. I am so frustrated.
• Libra_MoonLibra_Moon Posts: 255Registered Users
I hear ya, I take pics...once a month or so, after about 3 months I can look back and see a big difference and know its growing.

You can do it! Your hair is so pretty and frames your face well.Maybe to avoid the temptation you should give the iron to a friend or sell it on ebay. Either way you choose, not using the curling iron can take a little off your energy bill! :D With that saved cash you can buy a new conditioner for your awesome curls! Well after my last rant I have actually started loving my curls again. We all have bad hair days right now my hair is happy. I do see growth when I look back at pictures. I mean I only started this 5 month ago and my curls are almost to my chin. This growing hair process is so slow but I know in about 2 years my hair will be where I want it. I hope . Thank you for all your support and encouragement it really helps!

I'm with you! I haven't put heat in my hair since 2007/2008...around there :D

Ulimate goal is tail bone length, I'm a few inches above BSL (hair was cut to like .5-1'' back in Dec. 2010).
Mostly 3c and lovin' my curls

This is not a fashion trend, it's not a statement, it's pride for who we are and what we look like. And that is where our true beauty shines.

Hi guys!

I would like to join as well. I tried to attend the growing out challenge once but just failed as I was too lazy to post updates. Now I am about shoulder lengths and I would like to grow out down to BSL. My hair is fairly fine but I think BSL would be the longest which suits me and doesnt look weird. I found biotin rests in my closet today morning and think its a good point to start over :=)
