You Ever Wonder How Many Pictures You're Accidently In?

SpringcurlSpringcurl Posts: 8,002Registered Users
I was just looking at some pics that we took when we were in NYC last week and giggling at the random people behind us in line at TKTS that made it into our photos.

It made me wonder how many pictures I'm in that belong to people I don't know.

You ever think about that?

I've never thought of it that way, but at my zoo job, people often take pictures of me with their kids (I'm usually either in costume or holding up some lion's skull or big ol' hunk of dried elephant dung  )

I do wonder about those kids growing up and looking back at their old family photos and seeing me.

My husband and I LOVE festivals and parades and that sort of thing, so I know I'm in tons of strangers' pictures. I've even found myself in the background in photos in the paper during and after Fiesta. :D

I was just wondering about that the other day. My office building is right in the heart of Times Square, so I know I'm in some pictures and video footage somewhere!

I don't even worry about it unless they have my face in it. Then I ask them to photoshop it out.

But how will you know? What if they're living in Canada and visiting Iowa? You'll never see them again.

I was thinking of pics that I would view on a website that I didn't want my face shown.

Regular pics? I don't really care, living in a tourist place with cameras everywhere. Eh, I'm just local flavor.

I just hope they're like "Hey--who's that hottie in the background??"

One time I had a picture taken outside of Madison Square Garden. The picture would have been great if there wasn't a random teenager cheezy smiling behind me in the picture. Every time I saw it I was like " :x WHO IS THIS KID WHO RUINED THIS SHOT?!" then one day a friend of mine was looking through my pictures and said "OH I KNOW THAT KID! HE'S KENNY!" I said "Oh yeah? Well tell Kenny thanks a lot for ruining my picture!"

Oh yeah. Like when you look up and some family, or couple is taking a picture, and you're right in the way. You're always like "Ah!" and try to jump out of the way so you're not in the background. I always wonder, how many times does this happen? And you'd never know b/c they have NO idea who you are, and wouldn't recognize you if they tripped over you, but it's a weird thought.

I like to "add" myself into people's pictures. So then when they get them developed, they are like: who the heck is this?

If I see someone with a camera or camera-phone, I give them a wide berth--especially in the age of posting pictures online. But I guess it can't be helped sometimes.

Pretty often, I'm asked to take the picture. I guess I look like a nice, reliable girl. If only they knew that I always wonder what would happen if I just ran off with their camera!

people in spain seem to like to do this. i have a pic of my bf at a concert with some friends, and there are these crazy guys (total random strangers) a couple rows behind them making crazy faces in the background.

then when i was there this summer we were in this tiny dusty little town on our way to girona to visit his parents where they were vacationing, and he was taking pics of me with an ancient fooseball table in front of a café-bar. when we looked at the pics later, we realized that some guy was inside the cafe making faces through the window behind me!

I try very hard not to get strangers in my pics, and if I do, I generally crop them out later. They usually aren't very attractive. I hope they extend the same favor and crop me out of their pics.

That reminds me of the SNL skit where the guy just leaned into every picture.

There is a section in Maxim magazine (I think), that circles a random person in the background of photos readers send in and other readers can write in if they the person!

I've always wondered about the girls on Bourbon Street who flash their boobs for beads. No telling how many people are snapping pics!

Ah, I'd never really thought about this, but now I will for sure.

Slightly off-topic, but there's a picture of my brother and I at the beach when I wasn't even 2. He's holding me up in the air and I'm cheesing it up. I found this picture when I was 11 and wrote on the back of it, "Me, Donnie & some guy blocking the camera" because there was a dude standing in the front that I did NOT recognize. Turned out it was my dad and he had a full beard at that time, so I didn't know him.

Our friend's daughter was showing him some pics she took at a concert with her phone, saying, "Look how cute, these old people are enjoying the band." Our friends recognized them -- it was me and my BF!

Have to admit, there were not many people there over legal drinking age.
