There are four--yes, FOUR--gelato parlors by my house. I usually survive my temptation, but surely it is my purgatory on earth.

There are also two places that make crepes, and their signature filling is nutella.

It's a Cuisinart, makes about 2 quarts I think. I keep the bowl in the freezer, and just pull it out when ready. Can make ice cream in like 30 minutes. It's great. I will see if I can find the model that I have.

Isn't it though? It's so creamy!!! I didn't think mine would turn out because of the heating of the cream mixture, and then adding the eggs and all of that. But it did! I can only have a tiny scoop at a time, though, because it's so rich. It was fun and TOTALLY easy to make though.

HSL, you should get some Nutella and let Katie try it. It's good on a piece of toast, or just right out of the jar.

Yep, one small scoop was plenty! Yum yum yum!!!

Isn't there a way of making ice cream without the maker?

You can make like a granita, but it takes a lot of freezing, scooping, etc. Not sure if it would turn out the same without an ice cream maker. The ice cream maker continually mixes the cream while freezing it at the same time.

I haven't ever heard of making ice cream without a maker, but I assume it would take a while and be kind of tedious.

Might I add that Nutella ON ice cream is great too. Just microwave the Nutella a little bit and pour over. So good!

There's a burrito place near my house that makes Nutella milkshakes (don't ask me what the connection is). Once I discovered this, I started getting them all the time. It was dangerous! Luckily, they make them with skim milk and nonfat frozen yogurt, so it's not as dangerous as it could be. I've never made them at home, but it might be a tasty alternative for those of us who don't have ice cream makers. Just a couple of spoonsful of Nutella, some skim milk, and some froyo. YUMMM!
