Do people(strangers)actually (attempt)touch your hair

I haven't worn my hair out naturally except once and no one said anything or tried to touch which is good but when I go to college I nex yr I plan to wear it not in a ponytail/bun more often.
When I straighten it my friends touch it and I don't like it so I can't imagine a total stranger evening attempting to,I mean who knows where their hands have been!

What are your experiences with people touching your hair?Don't they ask first?

About a month ago (or thereabouts) at work, a woman got to talking about my hair, wondering if it's naturally curly and such (I get it somewhat often, at least once a week on average). When I was looking down at the till to get her change, out of the corner of my eye, I saw her lunge over the counter, her hand zooming towards my hair. She gave a clump of hair some squeezes, then backed off. I understand why she did it, and I worked SO hard to not flinch (God forbid I make her uncomfortable, you know? lol), but it was kind of startling. Never happened before, and hasn't happened since.
Some people are like slinkies... Not really good for anything, but
you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

This happens to me daily. :angry7:
When I was child, I had white blonde hair and everyone seemed to have to touch it and I hated it sooooo much. Now my hair is still very blonde, but I try to take it as a compliment even though I die a little inside each time. lol, I am a little dramatic this evening.
    No, they never ask first.

btw, my son had white blonde hair and I did not let strangers touch him if i saw it coming. I probably made a lot of little old ladies (that is who i remember touching my hair the most when I was a child) angry, but come on people! personal space should be respected.

Hair: 2a or 3a (not sure), very porous and fine as frog hair
Day 1: Cowash and condition with AO GPB, ACV Rinse,
Co-Kra gel (this stuff is fantastic)

Day 2: KCKT, KCCC, plop, KCCC, plop again, air dry
Day 3: Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Coil Jam
Day 4: IAGirl's PT, KBB DT, FSG

Co-Kra gel is my own concoction of okra boiled in coconut milk. It is a cross between FSG and KCCC and leaves my hair very soft and shiny

See I don't really have a story like this. The only time that people have attempted to touch my hair is when it's straight. My hair is pretty long so people wonder if it's real. No one has attempted to touch it when it's curly. I don't think I'd respond so well to that. I'm pretty aware of my personal space and I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to who I want in it.

I just don't think it's polite to go up and grab someone, especially if you don't know them. That's why I don't think I'd respond very politely to that.

There's nothing bad about letting people know you have boundaries.

I totally agree. I really do my best to realize that it is a compliment, they wouldn't want to touch it if it didn't look good to them, but i really wish they wouldn't.

Yes, random people do attempt to do so. At my job, a random co-worker that was walking by my work place decided to grab a chunk of my wash and go hair without alerting me or talking to me. She didn't say a word. I couldn't believe it. After she saw my huge eyes turn around and look at her, she then started to explain that her hair would never look like mine. Ok but for all of that you needed to touch my hair like a creep behind me?

I hate strangers touching my hair, I have had it happen a few times. The times I caught the person who did it, they wanted to know "if it was real". I guess they mean it as a compliment but that is just unbelievably rude. I've also had people yank my hair, and one time, a chick put a piece of gum in it! angry9:It's hair people, it's a body part and you shouldn't touch it!

Not total strangers, but friends and co workers do. One had the nerve to complain my hair was wet with gel. I'm like keep ya damn hands off other folks and that wouldn't be an issue now would it. I know it's nice, I know it's thick, but dang people this is someone's BODY you're touching! I think permission should be asked.

It's like pregnant women always get touched. Like a HAND magnet! I've touched my friends' bellies before w/o asking, so I guess this is payback. :p
