Biracial baby on the way

Hello all,
I hope this is not silly (especially since I have a few years before this is a real “issue”), but I am a bit nervous (for lack of a better word) about my future daughters hair. Hair in this child’s family will run the gamut. Using the Andre Walker typing system for a visual, her genetic spectrum runs from Type 1 to Type 2c/3a on her dad’s side and 3b to 4b on my side. Her hair could be fine to medium and will probably be thin because neither of us have many family members with thick heads of hair.
What the heck will I do with her hair if it is nothing like my own hair? I am a PJ in recovery, so I know that finding products to use won’t be a huge problem. I just pray that these products still exist and that I can afford some of them in the future. However, what I do not want to do is succumb to my PJing ways trying to find what works. My question is how do you figure out what is best when your child has hair that is vastly different from your own? Did the trial and error process cost a lot?
SN: I am 37 weeks pregnant and I am really worried about much more important things. My concerned mom brain is on overdrive and this is just a little distraction

Blame it on the cell phone...
It only became a thought recently. My bf's mom asked a black coworker to teach her how to braid. I fell out laughing. Then my first cousin who I have never met is biracial. Well my uncle sent her school pic recently(she's 9), and she looks mediterranean and her hair is sooo straight. I was looking at her like what would I do with hair like that???
I wonder in general what she will grow to become in nature and in looks. I can see the finish line, but these last weeks are moving at a snails pace. I can't wait to meet her. I should be asking how everyone got through the last weeks of pregnancy.
Anyway, my kids have hair very different from mine, but it hasn't been a big deal. And as others have already said, you'll just have to wait and see. But how great is it that you're probably a LOT more educated about hair than the average person, so the "trial and error" that you'll go through will probably be a lot easier and a lot shorter in duration than you expect.
Sending you happy thoughts for a gentle delivery and a very happy, healthy baby! :angel7:

For me, no it wasn't expensive. With DD1, after using up all of the baby products I would buy the trial size natural/organic shampoos and conditioners from target. They're only $1 and lasted a surprisingly long time. I tried out products we already owned too. If I wanted to try a product that we didn't own and I knew my hair or her dad's hair wouldnt like I just went to the swap board and got samples for super cheap. A lot members are really generous and send a pretty good sized amount of product that can last months.
BEame it on the cell phone...
Kudos to hair companies that have the travel packs--money savers! What doesn't work can be used for shaving lotions or hand wash.
I started all of mine with baby oil for cradle cap, and then varied from there.
Coming from a family that has all the hair types, and having children whose hair types range from 1a-3c, we vary in what we use. But porosity makes a HUGE difference for us in determining what we buy. Not only do we save money, but we now have staple products.
CoWash: various
DT: various
Leave-in: 100% Mafura butter, Shima Hair Leave-in

I do not know why I didn't think of some of this stuff. It's a baby not an adult, so travel/sample sizes would work well. I have never done any of the swaps, but that is a good idea too. Thank you soooo much. Your babies are too adorable btw.
I am so excited, nervous, anxious, scared....There is so much going on I feel like I need to research how to care for gray hair soon.
I just want a healthy and happy baby. I have 13 days left.Yikes!!!
minniecurld84, have you had the delivery yet? :blob3: If so, how is everything going?
