Deep conditioning

I bought the gvp reconstructor and used it for the first time yesterday but my hair feels so dry. Also, all of my deep conditioners have protein in the ingredients. Is it ok to use those after or are they not moisturizing enough??

It really helps to know your hair properties when giving advice. Here's a link to help you determine them: Live Curly Live Free - Home

Usually fine and porous hair really like/need protein. My fine hair never met a protein it didn't like. When I first came on nc.com, I'd do DTs. The truth is, with the rich, more natural products I use, I really don't need them. I do at least one PT a week and frequently two. I use moisturizing ones like CJ Repair Me and the SS Protein Repair. Just use a moisturizing rinse out conditioner and no DT when I do.

My hair is 3a baby fine with high porosity and I have a ton of it. It is also lightened and heat damaged. Will it start to feel better the more protein it gets? I used too much henna and placenta one time and my hair became dry and crunchy but it is a different dry and brittle now.

If your hair is fine and porous, it should LOVE protein. It just may like some proteins and not others.

I looked up the ingredients for the henna and placenta:

    Ingredients
Purified Water, Acetamide MEA, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Soluble Collagen, Propylene Glycol, Isostearyl Ethylimidonium Ethosulfate, Henna Extract, Placenta Extract, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, propylparaben, Fragrance, Glycerine, Phosphoric Acid.

Not sure why you had an "issue" with it. The proteins aren't particularly high on the list.

If your hair is really damaged from heat and chemical process, it may not feel better until new hair grows in and you cut off the damaged parts. It all depends on how damaged it is. You really need to treat it with TLC (lots of moisture/protein, cut the heat to a little diffusing to help it dry faster and limit the chemical processing.) Once you get it back into great shape, you can do a little more, but you may love your curls and the feel of your hair to limit what you do.
