Probably easier to type when it's in its dry state.

Also, probably easier to type from looking at a pic that contains all your hair, since many people have several different curl types on one head.

    Thanks for the info.
Fine Strands, Normal Porosity, Arm Pit Length, I think 3c/4a

So do you have pics of your entire head, with your hair in its dry state? I think you'd get responses that are more helpful that way ;)

7 weeks into my transition. Not sure if there's a difference between this pic and the one i took on the previous page.

    i co-washed and put a leave-in.

You can't accurately type transitioning hair. The hair is weighed down so your curl pattern looks looser than it will actually be. You just have to wait and see

I would say more 3c than 4a because your hair has a curl and not a coil to it

I do have smaller coily type curls in the back at the nape

And on the very top of my head its this weird almost stringy texture that has a slight wave and a spiral at the end lol (not heat damage because I've had plenty haircuts and it always been like that)

And my curls loosen up a little as they grow, and look tighter when I cut it, like on my profile pic a had a fresh Deva Cut. In the pic that I posted it was about a month before my cut so its a little longer

Here a pic of the back of my hair...sorry it upside down I don't know how to fix that

    What hair type is this?

First picture has nothing but KCKT and the second picture has KCCC/EcoStyler Gel.

The hair has very little shrinkage and straightens easily. Twists also unravel.

There is no heat damage at all. The hair is like this from root to tip.

A shot of your whole head is more accurate and easier to type than a little section

My whole head is not like this. I already know what the hair type is on my other parts of my head, hence the reason for me posting just that section. My whole front part of my head is like this.

I don't see any 4 on your head at all. I always go by this chart. I think 3b and 3c has the most range of all the curl patterns and you definitely fit into a 3.

Can someone please tell me my hair type. I have no idea where I fall and have searched the internet for hours. The back is when I wear it in a puff. If I brush the back it looks like the front.

Hair in the Half-light (a poem)

    In the darkness of the
night, or a poorly lit room,
    Hair type is highly uncertain.

    Darkened rooms
    create pixellation:
    photographic
    aberrations so that
    Hair type is highly uncertain.

    Or ..

    Photos of a
    corner of your head
    showing threadbare
    "heat trained" strands;
    blurry snap-shots
    taken in the
    half-light, or when curls are
    dripping wet, regretfully
    means
    Hair type is highly uncertain.

    Show us the natural
    beauty
    of your virgin
    curls bathed in
    ambiant light and
    stop your games.

    THEN
Your hair type will still be uncertain,
but maybe a little less so.
Andre's typing system will never be science
    so ask the question strictly
    for fun.

I always thought my hair was mostly 4b with 4a but depending on what I put in my hair it changes slightly. I usually just say I'm in the 4 range but still a little confused.

I'm very confused as to whether I should call my hair 4a or 4b.

I washed my hair today and studied it carefully after shampooing, conditioning, rinsing, and towel-drying. Let me start off by saying I have two different hair types.

The majority of my hair has extremely tiny curls/kinks (I don't know what to call them). Some are S-shaped, some are zig-zag, and all are about the size of a small sewing needle. That's what mainly confuses me. They're just so TINY. And they have a spongy texture. Am I still considered to have a curl pattern even though the curls are so small? I was practically amazed as I picked through them. I took a pic to post on here but the curls are so small that they don't come out clearly.

The roots of my hair are a different texture from the rest of my hair. They are looser, pencil-sized, S-shaped curls. Since the curls growing out the top of my head are much bigger than the rest, of course they are more defined. They are also softer and do not shrink up as much as the rest of my hair does. I'm so confused!

Both textures of my hair curl very easy, which is surprising because if you saw my hair after I wash it you probably would think nothing could be done to it. But it's very easy for my hair to imitate large, S-shaped curls that are soft and bouncy and well-defined. All you have to do is put any kind of hair product on it and it will immediately clump to form a large curl. Help!
Hair type: 4b with 3c on top
High density, medium porosity, thick with medium width strands, back grows faster than front

Length: APL | BSL | MBL | WL

If you can see curls you have a curl texture.

You have not said whether your curls clump.
