what does PEG 8 listed by Dimethicone on labels mean?

My subject line says it all. I recently bought two products that have dimethicone peg 8 on the ingredients list.

Is this water soluble? Will co washes or [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Hair-Cleansing-Cream-p-103.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-hair-cleansing-cream]Jessicurl HCC[/buylink] get this out?

Thanks!

From what I understand any cone with "PEG" means it is water soluble so a co-wash should get it out. :)

    Thank you, Hockeymom!

I posted about the two products I used with peg-8 on another thread.

They were both from Sally's-Naturelle Gel and Ion Curl Creme-they worked great together! I'm so glad to find cheap products that I like. Okay, I've only used them once, but I hope they continue to work.

    Take care,
    Sherry

    Good question.
I am wondering if PPG -icones are water soluble too?
I am also wondering just what on earth PEG and PPG stand for?

According to Wikipedia, PPG is PolyPropylene Glycol, and PEG is PolyEthylene Glycol. Both are polyethers, which are organic polymers.

Thanks. Seems like they are both soluble then?
