Please help with my daughter's hair!!

My 3yo's hair is just not cooperating anymore. I've been using KKKT in her hair for the past year, and the cleanser every couple of weeks. The pics below is how her hair looked before winter. Now it's starts looking to stringy and not as full. The curls aren't as springy as they used to be. She has fine hair, but lot's of it and it gets tangled easily. Any recommendations on what to use? I tried to use some of my Deva Angell but it seems to weigh it down to much. Should I have a different routine for her in the winter? Also, what type of curl does it look like she has? TIA

KCKT just isn't moisturizing enough for my hair. Usually, one needs more moisture in the winter. The other thing that may help flat, stringy curls is a protein treatment. Or, at least using products with protein.

Can you recommend any treatments or products with protein that I can buy, hopefully either in a drug store or Sally's? Thanks!

My 3 year old's hair did the same thing. KCKT and KCCC were working wonderfully for her 3a hair until our dews dropped. I'm still struggling to figure out what her fine hair needs/wants!

You could probably try out the Suave Naturals coconut conditioner. It has protein in it and is cheap...so you wouldn't be out much money if you use it on her and it doesn't do anything for her hair!

I've still be using protein free shampoo/conditioner on my my daughter's hair and tried putting some LA Looks Sports Gel (it also contains protein) in it this morning to see if that little bit of additional protein would help her curls. It did a little bit...but I think I may need to do some more experimenting! Good thing I'm a product junkie and have all kinds of things I could try on her hair!

    Products I'm currently using:
    Lo-Poo: KC Come Clean (1 x week)
    Co-wash/RO: Suave Naturals Everlasting Sunshine
    Stylers: UFD CM + BRHG

Hair dislikes: lots of protein, glycerin

Thanks for responding! I've tried the Suave Naturals Coconut and didn't do anything, wasn't as easy to take out any knots. I usually don't put any products in her hair. Last night I decided to try a little of KCCC and this morning her hair looked awful. It was straight in places it never was before and looked greasy. Ugh....this is so frustrating. I wish I could get the same curls she had a few months ago.

Suave won't have enough moisture for her hair. My hair prefers the products from the online, boutique companies--so I'm not much help. Why don't you search for "Sally's," or "drugstore products" in the title. That may be of help.

Her hair is gorgeous!! I am totally envious of those beautiful ringlets!!

As far as products my favorite purchases at Sally's has been the GVP Conditioning Balm. I comb it through & it works great on the tangles. I think it is about $5.

I also like the biotera curl cream & biotera gel. The gel is pretty thin so that might not weigh her hair down as much. They are between $5-$7 depending on the sales.

I've heard good things about KY Lubricant too. Suppose to be very similar to curl keeper. I bought the walmart equate brand the other day just to experiment.

You might want to check out Meghan's blog ... Her curls look pretty similar to your daughters (still envious!!)

Oh there is also a GVP protein treatment/reconstructor - similar to the Joico K-Pak. I tried it once, but my hair freaked out - it doesn't like protein :(

Thank you all! I do use the GVPCB on her(forgot to mention that in the OP) and myself. I'll go to Sally's in the next couple days and check out the Biotera and the protein treatment. I think the cold weather is just not helping and her hair maybe prefers more humid weather.

And thanks on the compliments on her hair. My ODD has straight hair and when my YDD's hair finally started growing at a year and a half and it was curly I was elated. Pain in the butt to take care of, but I love it.

If your daughter has any allergies, you need to be careful using some of the products. I, for one, can't use any Bioterra products because they make my scalp burn. Some of the Sally's just started carrying the As I Am products. Of course, none of the 18 stores within a reasonable distance of my house. My hair doesn't care for castor oil, so there are a lot of them I can't use. These products are in the same price range as the KCKT. The jelly is MUCH cheaper than KCCC. They may be of interest.
