Thinking of doing a henna gloss

Hi I'm thinking of doing a henna gloss, I'm interested in doing a gloss because I don't want the full-on red tint, just some deep treatment! So my question is this, my hair is ash-blonde to light brown, do you think I should do it? Have any of you done this before?

You're still going to get color with a gloss especially with your hair color. I don't find henna to be helpful as a deep treatment. As someone who grew up with henna it always puzzles me to hear people wanting to use it for that purpose. Henna is drying even when used within a conditioner. Henna strengthens hair in that it bonds to hair, BUT for dry, easily tangled hair, the "strengthening" usually isn't worth it. It's not going to noticeably thicken your hair, it's not going to noticeably improve your hair though some people claim that it does. I think it's wishful thinking.

There is a thread here on the 4a board that talks about henna glosses. Even tho it's not your hair type, there is a lot of info there. I've never called them that but I've done them to tint my hair. You're not going to get the same color saturation as you would from a full hennaing but you're going to get some. Some people here use cassia powder which works similarly to henna but is color-neutral. I'd be careful with light hair tho. You can get odd color results if your water is even semi-hard.
