Beachbody workouts

Hey ladies!!! have any of you tried stuff from Beach body that works? I tried P90X and reinjured my knee so I had to stop that. I also tried hip-hop abs (umm.. I dunno what I was thinking!) LOLOL!! Anyway, I really need to shed some fat/get my heart healthier and wanted to know if you guys had any good experiences with Beachbody products or any other program.

My instinct is to get an elliptical and call it a day, but bore easily.

TIA!

I've done P90X and I started Insanity today. You may want to take a look at a Jillian Michaels website. There are a few videos that you may like. Sounds like you should try something low impact to avoid reinjurying your knee.

I have done P90 Masterseries, P90 Power half hour (very good), P90x, and Turbo Jam.

The MOST fun was Turbo Jam. It was easy on my knees, and it makes cardio fun for me.

The P90 Power half hour is very good as well. Its not hard on the knees and not nearly as intense as the other series.

did you hurt your knee while working out or outside of working out?

i'm a fitness instructor and i'm always looking for new ways to vary my classes. i like jeanette jenkins, jillian michaels and jackie warner.

i recently bought amy dixon breathless body and i like it. it's a tabata workout so great for cardio/fat burn. i like that on every exercise she shows 3 levels so it's good for a new to advanced exerciser. check out the reviews in the link and you can watch a clip. she has other videos you might like too.

i was really interested in turbo jam but it was a little expensive. i might buy it later in the year. insanity is well cra-zee, lol. it's good cardio, no equipment. i consider myself fit but it was hard and i didn't finish. 6 days a week plus my regular classes was hard so i need to figure out how to make it work. my calves were on fire in week 2 from it though. i've heard of people doing it but at their own pace.

lastly i really like the the 10 minute solution videos. you can customize your workout and i will sweat in 10 minutes but you can do at 10, 20 or longer program. i have the one in the link and just bought the bootcamp and the kettlebell one. i see that amy dixon has 10 min workouts. i see some of the 10 min solution workouts in target too.

I agree that Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner have some solid workouts. Jillian's No More Trouble Zones (low to no impact) and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism are the bomb. I own her 30 Day Shred too and while it's great for a quick workout, it's not my favorite. OH her 6 Week 6 Pack is a killer abs workout!!

I own several BeachBody systems and like all of them. Turbo Fire is a blast, but may not be the best option for you considering your knees.

The one from BB I love, used the most, and got great results from is Slim Series with Debbie Siebers(not Slim in 6, but I hear that's a good one too). It really helps with my problem areas--butt and thighs!! And great arm and waist work too.

It's low-impact using light weights, but it still gets your heartrate up pretty good in certain parts, especially with lunges and squats.

eta: ooh I just thougth of on BB system I hated. Yoga Booty Ballet. Ugh. Terrible! I don't recommend that one.

Can any of you ladies testify that any of these workout gave you definition? I tried p90x which is amazing but an hour a day everyday is to much for me. I guess I'm asking for you input on your results 😊

I have done P90 Masterseries, P90 Power half hour (very good), P90x, and Turbo Jam.

The P90 Power half hour is very good as well. Its not hard on the knees and not nearly as intense as the other series.

Did you get semi the same results are the regular p90. I world really love to gain muscle mass and moderate to High definition and looking to find something that will cruelly work

The Turbo Jam helped me lose the small amount of belly fat I had. The Power Half hour does a good job keeping me in shape. However, its not going to be the same as p90x because its not as intense. A nice middle ground may be the P90 Master Series. I love that series and it is about 40 minutes of your day.

Is there more than one Turbo Jam DVD? If so, which one are you referring to? Thanks!

Wile, I didn't know you couldn't run anymore. I'm sorry. I'm still pounding the pavement...well really, the treadmill belt. ;) I'm running my 1st race in March...an out-of-town 8K. I'm pretty stoked. Hubs is doing it too, along w/some friends from work. I want to keep up w/the running, but also want to add in something else. Been thinking about kettle bells...they look awesome to me, but this thread also has interesting suggestions. Hmm, what to do, what to do? :dontknow:

I'm very intrested in trying the Brazilian butt lift workout. My problem is that I'm lazy and get bored quick. But, I think I'm going order that one or the p90 master series

Sorry I fell off for a bit...

Thanks for all the responses. I'm on medicine for the appetite suppression and energy-- now I just need to work out. There just isnt enough time in the day but I'm trying to figure things out. It may come down to going to bed super early to wake up at 3am to work out. My work days start early and end late, so after work is really a struggle.

Turbo Jam is high on the list...

Yeah, it sucks...ty for that :)
And since I've had my acute pancreatitis, I've not done much in the way of exercise due to doc's orders...boooo
So, after almost a month! not being able to do regular exercise, I'm back on my Treadclimber 30 min 3x a week. Once again, I've got my hip pains/aches the whole time! while working out...ugh So, now it's getting them acclimated again. I am hoping to keep on track...it's literally a pain! lol
Awesome on the running! Let us know how it goes. For me, I just have to mix things up...imho, the most important thing is to just stay/remain active, tho moderation in eating, as well...

I wondered if it had something to do with your pancreatitis, but I didn't want to be nosy. ;) Good for you for getting back on the treadclimber. I feel your pain, literally, on the hip aches. You're so right about staying active and moderation in eating. I've been on this "health" journey for about 6 months now...working out, watching what I eat....man, it's hard! I try to watch sugar, salt, dairy, and most recently, gluten. I haven't completely given up any of it, but am really trying to be cognizant of what I put in my body. Even though I wasn't overweight, I had put on about 10 or 12 lbs. the last year or so that I was NOT happy about. I've managed to lose 22, and am at a really comfortable place with my body now, for the first time in YEARS. Let's just pray I can keep it up. I really worry about that.

I'll keep you posted on my race...cross your fingers it doesn't kill me!

Actually, when I told my internist, pancreatic doc, about my running and then being told to stop by my PAC back in May, he was like, no! running is good!
I said, yes, but it's hard on your body and then I told him about my hips. Thankfully, no ankle or knee issues. Funny thing is my hips hurt less when I run
I was jogging on the TC and doing the C25K, but then had to stop altogether after getting sick...booo
So, I just do what I can. Yeah, I'd like to lose some more weight, as well. Nothing like getting pancreatitis to help you start! lol Congrats to you on the weight loss and keeping/staying on course! So worth it :glasses8:
btw...during my exercise today, my hips didn't hurt as much/often...woohoo...looks like my body is acclimating rather quickly! :blob8:

Vina-are you still doing insanity? I'm interested in it, but would like to hear more about it.

I started the BeachBody, Slim in 6 series yesterday afternoon. I like the workout, but found it to be too easy, really. I like the concept and will stick with it, but I will be supplementing it with JM's 30-Day Shred, which I started this morning. That workout is more intense.

Some background: I have been a runner/jogger in the past, but due to IT band issues that began affecting my knees, I haven't run since August of last year. I also do light weightlifting 3x per week. I'm 49 and consider myself to be in decent shape for my age. But without being able to run, over the holidays the weight started piling on - 15 pounds of it!!! I love to cook and I love to eat and that is not a good combination for losing or maintaining my weight. I'm determined to blast that 15 pounds off and an additional 5 pounds to get me to where I feel the most comfortable.

So, my plan is to do the JM workouts in the morning, and the BB workout in the afternoon. I will supplement with a daily Pilates reformer routine. I find that to be a relaxing way to gently stretch my muscles in the evening without breaking a sweat. I have been tracking my diet/calories on WebMD. I will weigh in every week, most likely on Friday mornings. To keep myself accountable, and as embarrassing as it is for me to admit, my starting weight as of this morning is 140 lbs. I'm 5' 3.5" tall and I feel most comfortable around 120 lbs., so that's my goal. Wish me luck!!!
