Calling All Long Term Transitioners!

CaseyGoNaturalCaseyGoNatural Registered Users Posts: 145
Can you ladies that have been transitioning for at least 1 year to 2 years, post pictures of you new growth and length? I originally wanted to transition for a year, but seeing peoples' growth I don't think I would be comfortable with that length. I'm not going to transition for more than 2 years, so I want to see ABOUT (because I know not everyones' hair grows at the same rate) where I'll be length-wise. Thanks! :)

Are you planning on cutting those ends off soon? Your hair will grow back to that length within a few months. Your hair growth is great! im 7 1/2 months post relaxer and if i had nearly your length and i would be ready to bc.

I'm roughly 4a and I transitioned for about a year and a half; when I did my semi-BC (lol only had about 4 inches left) my hair was nearly CBL stretched. However, the shrinkage that I get is pretty significant. My avatar pic was a twistout I did shortly after my chop.

The only caveat to my experience is that I did a lot of heat styling for the first six months so it is possible that I ended up cutting off some of my heat-damaged ends when I chopped. Initially, I was less than thrilled with the length, but I got used to it after a month; it made styling soooo much easier and I was happy to FINALLY see what my actual curl pattern looked like.

I'm 15.5 months post relaxer. My bang area comes to the tip of my nose. My nape area comes to my collar bone. (this is stretched, of course). Did a blow out Monday morning, so I'll post pics next wash.

I'm 12 months post. My hair is about to my collarbone but with shrinkage its a few inches below my chin. I'm 3c/3b. Can't wait to hit the two year mark and even after shrinkage it be past my collarbone :)

@y0shi my hair grows pretty fast, when I did my mini chop in July 2010 my hair was a little past shoulder length, I had chopped it up to chin length. Since my mini chop I've just been keeping my hair trimmed, and just letting it grow. I don't do to much with my hair so it grows without too much manipulation.

Lol, just be patient, you can't rush it! Just think of it this way, your half way to your one year mark so that's something you can look forward to. Also I watched alot of youtube vids while I wash transitioning, I learned a lot of styles and how to manage my hair. This may help you if your struggling w/ styles etc.

yeah, im excited for my one year mark cus at that point my hair will be long enough to put it in a cute french or fishtail braid. most of the transition styles i've seen on youtube cause a lot of breakage to my relaxed hair so i just dry my hair with roller sets and put it in a bun or pony tail or something

Roller sets are always a good go to style. Im trying to do more two strand twist or flat twist styles now, but Im still trying to teach myself how to do neat flat twist. Hopefully I'll get better with my styles.
