Do you get more compliments from men or women?

I get compliments on my hair fairly often whenever I go to a social event that involves friends and their subsequent friends who've never met me before. If/when you get complimented on it, is it more from men, or women?

I think it's more often with women. In the past month or so I've gotten maybe, 4 occurrences where a girl I don't or barely know randomly says "I like your hair." I guess I count it more because it's more spontaneous and unrelated to any conversation subject we have. If a guy compliments me, it's probably because we're talking about hair or something =P

Most definitely women! I guess guys just don't say that kinda stuff as often as women do. I've gotten an indirect compliment from a guy or two -- someone would tell me they said something nice about my hair. But that's about it.

Wow, for me it's definitely MEN! I get stopped by men who have seen me around at work that don't know me but let me know they prefer my hair curly. Male coworkers and friends also compliment me/my hair much more so than women. Women tend to complement me when I flat iron. I've only been stopped by 2 women -- both curlies!!

Women, by far. I get the occasional overall 'you look good' from guys but never really hair-specific compliment.

When it was superlong, this was different, lots of guy compliments, not from guys hitting on me or anything, just recognizing the very long hair.

Woman for sure.. girls always tell me all the time that they love my hair but guys have never commented on my curly hair! haha.. the only time guys have commented on my hair is when I've worn it straight, and that's probably just because it's different since I wear my hair curly most of the time..

 Any compliments on my curls have usually come from women. I've seen a few males studying my hair, but they haven't actually commented on it (with the exception of my husband, who loves my curly hair, bless him!) :love5:

Women. I recently started wearing my hair natural (3a/b) and I get atleast 2 compliments a day! Gay men and older men like my hair too, but younger guys usually say something like this, "is your hair naturally curly?" "yeah" "oh" "what?" "I like it straight". Well I guess thats too damn bad then because I like it curly :) I really don't understand what guys today have against curly hair. I think in the past curly hair was much more of an ideal than it is today. Whenever I straighten my hair women usually tell me that its an interesting change but they like my spirals or that it looks damaged (I agree, I rarely straighten it anymore because its just frizzy when straight and I dont think my curly cut works for straight hair so well. However, the few guys that tell me that they love my curls always end up being the good, genuine guys, not the ones looking for you know what. My SO gets mad if I even joke about straightening my hair, lol!

    Wow, I lol'd. xD

I'm in the NYC theatre world and I meet a lot of gay guys. So many of them rave about my hair!

Years ago, I met an actor who would eventually become a very good friend. I didn't see him for almost a year and the next time he saw me, he recognized me because of "all that fantastic hair."

It's a very image conscious industry so those compliments weigh a lot!

Both. Women are typically more direct about it. However I have had quite a few men, as bluntly as women do, tell me they love my hair. :) My fiance compliments me non-stop. He is obsessed with them :p :)

As far as strangers go, I get more compliments from women. Maybe men think it would creep a woman out to talk to her about her hair just out of the blue?
As for people who know me, I get many more compliments from men.
