I assume it has cones and maybe petroleum. Nothing protects against heat like those two! Remember mama straightening your hair with grease? Same idea.

actually my mother pressed our hair with ultrasheen in the yellow bottle, it doesn't have any petrolatum or mineral oil or anything else like that.

I've also tried grapeseed oil (but i wasn't doing a hard press or trying to get my hair super straight) because it has a natural smoke point of 475+ degrees, it worked out quite well, no damage at all.

Heat protectants don't have to be un-natural or have a ton of cones and petrolatum. You can pick up ultrasheen just about any hair store like sally's. It helps to keep the hair from converting quickly and you use less heat when using it.
[FONT=&quot]Hair type: the back and sides have small spiraly curls, the top and front just wave like, "hi! how ya doin?"

Condish: ElucenceMBC, HEHH, my kitchen mixes

Moisturizer: mixed spritz of: H20, aloe vera juice, honey, EVCO, ElucenceMBC

Curl Definer: H20 & a shake, my moisturizer mix.... or aloe vera/flax seed/ic fantsia gel if I'm not being lazy.

Styles: wash-n-go, twists just curl up like my wash-n-go

Girl one time that woman used Crisco. If it was greasy and sizzled when the heat hit it, she was using it! LoL!
