Pure henna will add strength to your hair. You have to use BAQ (body art quality) henna to make sure there are no added chemicals that can react with the hair dye. Mehandi.com is a great site to get information from and to order from.

I've used it over top of highlighted hair and it didn't cling to the highlighted parts as wwll. I've used the cheaper ones - Rainbow and Gobrej & BAQ Jamila and noticed this with all of them. It's taken several applications over time to get a real change in color. I will have to grow out the highlights to totally get rid of them.

Did it loosen your curls or make your hair stronger even the highlighted parts

It loosens my waves, but that's only temporary. I didn't find it improved my hair's condition at all. I find henna to be drying esp. Rainbow (which I later found out is a crap brand). Even the BAQ henna made my hair drier. My hair felt like it was thicker at first, but it's like the effects from hair color. It doesn't last. The color is permanent, though.

I use henna for the color only. I don't think it's as drying as chemical hair color, but it's not moisturizing in the least, either. It could be b/c my hair is dry naturally and with all the stuff I've done to it, nothing will probably help it!
