I'm 2b/c. I never cowash. I low poo every other day and SLS shampoo once a week or so. I use whatever products I like because I'm not really CG anymore.
Sort of CG sometimes, but not really

I don't co wash any more; I was able to when my layers were shorter and I had more volume and my hair was drier, but not any more. Now I low-poo every time, which is 2 to 3x a week. Don't use cones, love oils.

I also low poo every time I wash (2 or 3 times a week or so). Co-washing made my hair limp and gross. I don't add any extra oils, but there are some in my conditioners sometimes. I don't mind water soluble cones.

I gave up on co-washing after an honest few months of attempting it. Limp hair was all that it gave me. I then switched to low-poo and a rinse out with much better results. I've stayed away from cones (have used some PEG water-soluable cones though). No sulfates

I no poo (CJ Daily Fix) about once every 2-3wks, low poo every other shower and water wash the other days. I have a itchy, flaky scalp and I think cowashing wasn't helping! I use a sulfate shampoo every few months.

Every now and then I use a hair butter but no straight oils yet.

    Your Hair type:
2c/3a - All my info is in my sig!

Do you Co wash?.. How often:
Do you Low 'poo? How often :
I do both - more low-pooing, tho. I co-wash if I don't feel my hair needs low-pooing that day, and/or if my hair feels dry. I used to go on a sort of pattern where I'd do a type wash every other day, and every other wash being co-wash or low-poo. But I found I need to low-poo more often than that. I use Organix when I need a little more cleansing, and SM the rest of the time, because it's what I'd call a "very low-poo".

Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)?
I only use water soluble cones. I do use oils! But I have to be careful with the amounts so that I don't weigh my hair down, etc.

I find this very interesting .. almost every post no one Co washes.. I personally can't either surprisingly my hair is thick and coarse .. I pretty much have to low poo every wash.. I don't use cones but I do use oils and lots of them, my hair loves them ..

I have also been thinking about trying organix shampoo but don't really know how bad it is having a water soluble cone, will it just wash away when you rinse out? Or will it just coat the hair til your next wash??

I'm still very interested so please keep posting.

Do you Co wash?.. yes... modified
How often? Every other day or whenever I need to wet my hair
    Do you Low 'poo? yes
How often : approx every other week with an SLS or sulfate free shampoo
Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? I use oils mildly (olive oil/coconut oil mix), I use cones only if I decide to straighten my hair (usually once a month).

I love the CO method to a point. My hair likes the moisture but can look really greasy and too weighed down if Im not careful. I end up doing some kind of SLS or sulfate free wash every other week, I'm still trying to work out a routine.. going curly/wurly on a regular basis still feels new to me. I use to where my hair straight the majority of the time back in the spring

Your Hair type: definitely 2 - I'm not sure about the rest (basically, a big S-curve all over my head; wavy enough not to be straight, but not wavy enough to be curly!

Do you Co wash?.. Yes, pretty much all the time - I find if I use a lot of water I get a nice low lather, and my scalp is less greasy and itchy with Co wash. So, usually every morning - if I just rinse with water my hair gets heavy and greasy.

Do you Low 'poo? Occasionally. Usually if I'm going to dry my hair straight I'll do a very light shampoo; my bangs seem to get limp if I straighten them after a Co wash (but that was over the summer so I may try again now that it's cold and dry out where I am). Or, if I want to use a different styling product with silicones, I'll low-poo after.

Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? I don't use silicones now - before I started trying to make my hair curl I did, they don't bother me or anything, I'm just going on the theory that they'll build up and get gunky if I only Co wash. I think I do occasionally use some water-soluble ones. I don't use oils regularly because I think they'd weigh my hair down and look greasy, but I'll occasionally deep-condition with coconut oil.

    Thanks..[/QUOTE]

    Do you Co wash? yes
    How often: daily
Do you Low 'poo? rarely, I full out shampoo
How often : like once a month? whenever I'm feeling the need. it's rare.
Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? water soluble cones, and I was using coconut oil but I haven't felt like I needed it in a while.

I am starting to think I'm a little bit unusual that cowashing exclusively works so well for me, but my hair is rather thick and coarse, and naturally quite dry (it would take about three-four days without washing to even start to look greasy), so the waves don't go limp.

Do you Co wash? How often:

    Yes, 3-4 times a week.

Do you Low 'poo? How often?:

I no poo every other day or every two days. Cowashing doesn't really clean my hair. I just do it because a) No Poo is expensive so I'd rather use less of it compared to my cheap Tresemme condish, and b) my hair tends to be dry, especially in winter. I'm thinking of giving up the No Poo and going for something cheaper though.

Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)?

I use coconut oil once a month or so. I just coat my hair, put it up in a shower cap, wrap a towel over it to keep it a bit warm, and keep it on overnight. The only time I use a sulfate shampoo is to wash out the excess oil. I just mix a pea sized amount with my No Poo. No cones.

I will say that my waves are lazy because I use so much conditioner and don't use any kind of 'poo (I even scrunch some back in after rinsing), but I'd rather have weak, healthy waves than stronger, thirsty waves.

Do you Co wash?.. How often: Yes. Every other day, sometimes everyday, and sometimes every other 2 days.
Do you Low 'poo? How often : Yes. About once a week
Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? I use oils on my scalp because I have a dry scalp that flakes and itches so I have to moisturize it. I use shea butter, sometimes jojoba oil, and once a week I heat up lots of different oils and leave it on my scalp for like an hour then wash it out.

I'm modified....I will low poo most wash days but this winter my hair is needing more CO washes for moisture. I go by what my hair needs that day. I only wash about 3 times a week though. Usually one of those will be a CO Wash and the other 2 will be a low poo. About once a month or two I'll clarify with a sulfate wash.

Is it necessary to sls wash even if you use a low poo at every wash?? I would have thought most modified CGs would have used more silicones since they use a shampoo to get rid of them.. I tried it but still left my hair dried out..

No, it's not, depending on your hair. It is for me once in awhile due to my hard water. It's the residue from the minerals that cause the buildup in my case that I'm removing. Some modified wavy/curlies do use more cones, but I don't usually. Occasionally, but not on a daily basis.

I don't use any cones unless they are water soluble, but I still low poo half the time. (I'm sure I'll co-wash a little more in the winter.). It helps with all sod of build up, but also a lot of wavies/loose curlies find their hair needs more cleansing than tighter curls do.

I don't co-wash - my hair just turns limp from it. My hair is super baby fine but really abundant...too much conditioner to make it "soft" also makes it lose much of its curly/waviness and also makes it really fly away for some reason. I have been doing a spritz/deep conditioner for 30 minutes then shampoo right on top of the conditioner 2-3 times a week with no washing/co-washing in between. I use a regular rinse out afterwards, something light like Deva Curl One condition or KCKT, then a little more KCKT for a leave in. It seems to be working to keep my hair from damage during the winter here in Colorado, still being decently wavy/curly - maybe not as much volume but that's ok :)
Super wavy and wurly curly! Fiii, fairly non-porous, inelastic

My hair is 2-something. Still kind of trying to figure out which letter... I have a complicated routine it's sounding like. I co-wash my hair 2 days in a round and the third day I low poo. My hair is pretty oily so I can't really go a day without washing it somehow. I occasionally use non-soluble silicones, so I SLS wash every two weeks or so. I also use a product with oil on it on the ends of my hair as they are a little bit damaged from my last year in college when I flat ironed my hair a bit too much. I'm pretty amazed by how much shinier and healthy the hair near the root than on the ends!

Do you Co wash?.. How often: Nope, so far my scalp has been too oily to do co-washing. I think my hair has gotten much healthier since I last tried consistently (7 months ago) so I might try again soon.
Do you Low 'poo? How often : I low-poo with a non-sulfate shampoo (GTTT) every three days. I don't wash my hair at all in between those three to four days.
Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? No cones, and as of now no oil. I think when I'm back in the States I'm going to try Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil, i've heard good things about them

I have type 2c (with everything from 1c/2a to 3a mixed in ;)) hair, and I low poo every time I wash -- I never CO-wash because of scalp issues. I use a gentle low poo every time I wash. I used to use oils all the time -- pre-washes every time I washed, and sealing, too. But I don't use 'cones, unless it's an occasional water-soluble one. :)

    2b fine
I wash in some form every other day
Summer-normal dews- water wash and low poo once per week
Winter-super low dews and very cold-cowash and low poo once every 10-14 days.

I always add oils to my PT. I do coconut oil prewash treatments rarely in summer and every time in winter.

I don't use cones daily, but I'd use peg cones without batting an eye. My heat protectant that I use occasionally has an a-cone.

Do you Co wash?.. How often: I co-wash daily, except the days I shampoo (below)
Do you Low 'poo? How often : Sulfate free shampoo (Burt's Bees or TJ's) twice a week.
Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)? I've been scrunching a bit of jojoba oil in the ends before bed maybe once a week - trying to get better elasticity. I always have to shampoo the day after this, though, or it gets really stringy.

    Your Hair type:

2-something? In the shower soaking wet and detangled, it is straight, with just some wave at the ends near my bra strap, but it doesn't dry like that. If I scrunch out some water it gets wavy, and with product and diffusing it gets wavier and curlier. It will lose shape and definition if I don't use enhancers and hard enough hold. My hair is pretty fine, so I could be curlier more like a 3a, but with a weak wave pattern, or I could just be a wavy making the most of it...living the curly impostor dream.

Do you Co wash?.. How often:

I've co-washed once or twice, but prefer creamy cleansers or cleansing conditioners. I haven't done steady co-washes. I've been thinking of trying it out this winter. I use these most washes, but usually not more than 3 washes in a row. I don't wash daily.

Do you Low 'poo? How often :

I use a sulphate free shampoo as needed, usually every few washes, and I wash usually 2 or 3 times a week. Really, I don't have a schedule...I sorta decide when I am ready to shower what I am going to use. On a few occasions, I do use a sulphate shampoo...I have a few from LUSH that I do still like, though I traditionally use them in one of 3 situations.

    1) I have pre-washed with oil (such as I did tonight) or used oil in a homemade DT/PT.

    2) I am prepping my hair for a PT followed by a DT. I think that clarifying beforehand can be good, and I am adding loads of moisture back into my hair anyway. Not that my sulphate shampoos are terribly stripping.

3)I'm just feeling like it. On occasion I just feel like it is the right thing to do, but I always make sure I add lots of moisture back in, and also that I don't use it on the length of my hair, just the scalp.

Do you use oils or cones (water soluble or non)?

I use coconut oil every now and again as a pre-wash, and I have been known to SOTC with oils/butters/pomades. I don't mind a water soluble cone. I do, on very rare occasions, use a regular cone, just to sort of try it, or use up some product I still have that isn't CG. This would count toward #3 in my list of using sulfate shampoos, but this scenario is incredibly rare.
