Add coconut oil to your hair color????

I was watching Dr. Oz and the author of "Passport to Beauty" suggested adding coconut oil directly to your hair color. Anyone heard of this or tried this before? Sometimes the guests on this show have weird suggestions. Seems as if it might prevent the color from taking. Thoughts?

Instead of mixing hair color and oil I do a pre-treatment with coconut oil on dry hair for at least one hour before coloring. I don´t wash it out so I figure it´s basically the same thing. The Coconut Oil doesn´t interfere with the color uptake at all and it feels wonderful afterwards - not at all rough and frizzy. Before I started this it always took my hair a few days to get back to normal after coloring (I use Goldwell Colorance PH 6,8 demi permanent color on a regular basis)

Here is a thread at The British Culies forum about it:

Pre-oiling with coconut oil before chemical colour to help prevent damage | Curly Hair Forum by British Curlies

And here is a link to LHC (the original thread):

    Hope this helps... :salut:

Awesome! Thanks for the links. I knew someone would have some great info for me.
I'm in the process of reading the first link, but just based on the simple fact that the LHC thread is 139 pages, I plan to try it. And, my hair is a big fan of coconut oil.

    Thanks for the info.

I dont know about adding to color but i mix my bleach 1:1 (bleach and developer) than add coconut oil to the mixture 1prt to whatever the grams of bleach and developer. My hair had 3 seperate all over bleaching applications in 8 hrs... And is not breaking and feels amazing!
