Ordering Botticelli Flax Seed Gelee Problems

Has anyone recently ordered the Botticelli Flax Seed Gelee from Etsy.com? I placed an order on Saturday but haven't gotten any confirmation from Etsy that says I placed an order. My Account on the website doesn't show the order either. Only Paypal does. I have contacted Etsy and the Botticelli seller but no one has gotten back to me.

I really want to try that gelee.

Is that website not a working website?

If you read the monster thread in the Product Reviews you'll see that this is how the shopkeeper rolls. If you like the product enough you'll cut her some slack for being so laxed LOL Some people have the patience I don't, I like prompt efficient service but I have lots of products to choose from including my OWN fsg that is cheap to make. I learned how to make it here on this site you should give it a try.

Ditto....I ordered once from her last year...I got my product about three months afterwards...or more(i cant even remember) I think that is absolutely ridiculous, for something that wasn't even amazing (just for my hair of course, some curlies swear by it) so if its something of a HG...I guess you won't mind waiting that long??? but there's more available products out there and like Wavy mentioned you can always make your own if you're adventurous enough:rambo:
3A Med texture, normal porosity and elasticity

I like the BB gelee. I almost got temted to try the new okra thing. BUT...yeah, the shipping...yeah...

SS Curling Jelly works better for me than the FSG, but now both companies are in the, "Geesh, what's up with that" files.

Good products. But issues with getting both ....one slow, one just not there and hasn't been for months.

I'm down to my last bottle of SS jelly....and would love to get more, and can't. Will I consider ordering BB FSG...well....yeah. I'm giving SS another few weeks and then I have to find an alternative that works.

    Hope the shop opens soon.

Seriously, make it yourself! It's so easy, and cheap! You can customize it yourself, experiment with additives, and there is even a no-cook method!

I seriously thought it was something I'd never want to bother with, but thought I'd push myself just once. Seriously, so easy and cheap!!!

And if it ends up not working for you, you either try some different additives, or you throw it out - either way you are out virtually nothing!!

Yep! Personally I like the cook method - it means that from start to finish I have fsg within 10 minutes!

The no-cook method involves soaking seeds overnight.

I will try to find the link for it! Give me a few...

    UPDATE:

Ok, so I haven't found a link for it. I think that's because my friend told me how she makes hers, and it involves soaking the seeds overnight, and then she microwaves water and puts them into that, waits a few minutes, and then strains them. Something like that... I emailed her for her instructions, but I think seh's out of town right now.

If I come across it on here I'll post a link, but so far (after very little looking) I have only found a thread about soaking prior to boiling.

Sorry! Guess I may have gotten my wires crossed. I'll keep you updated when/if I get/find more info! :)

Yes! That's it! At first glance I didn't think it was, but hate because the no-boil stuff starts on page 2!!

    Yes, soak in Epsom!

My friend emailed me back, and that's what she said. She did microwave hers, but to a boil. But then she also did the Epsom soak!

So I heard it from her, AND read it on here - that's why I was confused! Lol

Thanks for posting the link, Wavysue!!

Wait, is Curlmart already out of the new shipment of the SS stuff? I know they just got some in...and I know the 8 oz. bottle of CEJ was showing out of stock, but they had the 16 oz. in stock. But that was a day or so ago. They also had the FHG. Haven't checked lately because I don't freaking get paid until Friday and I'm hoping they still have SS stock then. I'll cry if they don't. Seriously, cry.

Okay, at least I know I did not order wrong.

I ended up going to Whole Foods and bought some flax seed and I found the recipe on how to make your own.

While I am waiting for my order, I might was well try to make my own.
  • MirCurlsMirCurls Posts: 2,660Registered Users
Stupid me. I only checked one size. (though I prefer the smaller, as I have very limited bathroom counter space).

I may go order that. I was waiting for the store as i want the protein spray, and CurlMart has never carried that, methinks. Really, all I need are the jelly, fhg, protein spray. I prefer the Curl Junkie condishes and leave ins. :D

    THANKS. I'm gonna go look...

Okay. Ordered hubby's pumpkin condish and my SS stuff. Hopefully, it's not old stale stuff (I mean, let's face it, SS has not been operative for a bunch of months.)

I feel calm again, knowing I'll have my go-to jelly. Really, with the jelly, I hardly bother with gel, even. Works fine for me. A Scosh of FHG or Curl Queen on iffy weather days helps, but most days, just CJ BC LI and some SS CEJ and I'm done.

I'm waiting for the Black Friday CJ sale to stock up on rehab, BCLI, and the cleansers. Yay!

    Thanks for the heads up.

Yep. It's one of the few condishes my "I'm a guy, why should I bother with that stuff on myh air" hubby will use. He loves the scent (and he's very picky about scents and hates most perfumes) and it leaves him all nice and soft. So, he used up mine and he's getting more. :D

Well, I made my first 2 tablespoon batch last night and it didn't come out so good. I think I over cooked it because it wouldn't go through the strainer at all. Tried two different strainers but I barely got a tablespoon out of it.

I let it simmer for 10 minutes - was that too long?
  • Jas76Jas76 Posts: 2,283Registered Users
Yeah, a little too long. 5-7 is usually it for me. Plus as soon as it boils, turn down the heat!

I don't really time it, I just watch it. When I start to get watery egg white consistency, I take it off the heat and get the strainer ready, if it's too watery, you can always put the strained portion back on the heat!

    Thanks for the cooking tip.

Also, if I wanted the gel to have more hold, what would I add to it? I've read honey or epsom salt.

I'm with you. I find it pretty it easy to make flax seed gel. Matter of fact shingled my hair with it last night. I buy my flax seeds from GNC but I guess you can get them anywhere vitamins or supplements are sold

Epsom salts help enhance the curls. Agave nectar or honey will help with hold. I always mixed the FSG with a strong hold gel in my hands before applying it.

What I do, when it's too thick to go through the strainer, is put it back in the pot, add more water, and just do what I did to make it, but I make sure to turn the heat off before it gets super thick again.

When you say you add honey, do you literally just add honey to the strained liquid? How much? Is that just commerical honey that you buy in the store? When do you add the epsom salt?

I bought some flax seeds at the health food store, super cheap aren't they?, and I haven't made the gel yet. I also have some cheesecloth - should I line my mesh strainer with the cheesecloth to strain it?

I always just put the agave nectar in the bowl I was straining the FSG into along with the other additives. Then I whisked it up really well until it was kinda foamy. Some people use an immersion blender.

I used a very fine mesh strainer and never had a problem. The cheesecloth wouldn't hurt though, I would guess.

Is Spiral Solutions still not open?

Do we think she's just gone out of business then? I was waiting for the 'new shop' months ago - surprised still not up and running.

Ive heard Botticelli can take a long time - I think its great if thats your 'holy grail' but tbh its just a basic flaxseed gel recipe which she learnt from here (I remember original thread), its got ingredients added to it, but you can easily make it at home and for pennies.

There are loads of threads on making your own stuff with lots of helpful advice - have fun! :) Nowadays I literally just throw the flaxseeds in water overnight, then put on hob and once it starts to boil, its done.

From what I hear, she's still planning on opening, but no, it's still not open. But she did just sent an order to Curlmart. So...as far as any of us know, it's still in the works to reopen, just no definite date.
