Alternatives to Afroveda butters

Did anyone find a replacement for afroveda's hemp seed butter or bare herbal butter? I went through some of the hair products and bases thread but I didn't really see anything.

I don't know if that particular butter is mention but denimpixie did 2 vids on alternatives to afroveda.

Her blog is Quest for the Perfect Curl (Currently on Hiatus) so just search for afroveda alternatives and you should get it. If not, her YT page would have it.
3c/4aish, high porosity, fine strands, medium density cottony curls.

the hemp seed lock twist and roll was a staple for me and I just used my oyin whipped pudding with a pomade on top to replace it, I wasn't a fan of the smell anyway so the oyin was a better smell for me. I haven't found a single product to replace that one. The bare, was too light for me so any light butter will replace that one in my book. It reminds me of the Camille Rose Moisture Butter to tell you the truth, ingredients are similar to what AV uses. I haven't tried the Camille Rose Almond Joi yet but I have it in my fridge and I'm hoping it will replace the lock twist and roll.

i remember the 'bare' being exposed as a base in the bases thread.

i dont think i will ever shop afroveda again after all that was exposed. i'm still salty over the conditioners having silicones but not mentioned in the ingredient lists!!!

Right?? I feel like that little detail and the fact that she was using bases were sort of put on the back burner in comparison with people being mad over the price. I never really cared about the prices, more that she was complaining about slaving over making products for us and taking a MONTH to get people their stuff...and half the line was bases. Still smh at that.

Sorry to derail the thread, and I'm not much help either because I never used those two specific products you stated. I saw the Hemp Seed Butter look different as well, so it's difficult for me to compare.

I had the old version Hemp Seed back before the "situation" and I loved it. I place another order right before the "situation" hit and when my order came I had the newer version and it was different. The old version smell wasn't as strong and was a thicker and richer consistency. The newer version was smoother, yet thick, but like they used a gel thickening base to make it and less butter, I'm no expert on bases tho but whatever that gel'ish base was helped the oil not seperate.

I think I still have the old version in the freezer and I shipped the new version to Splinta24 on YT. She just did a review of the new Twisted Almond that I sent her earlier this year. She said it's nice but she likes the older version better. She hasn't tried the new Hemp yet though.

Were the silicones ONLY in the butters? Just curious.

they were in the conditioners. it really bothered me because my hair hates silicones. i kept scratching my head trying to figure out why my hair was responding horribly. i think i tried all but the ashii or whatever name.

i don't think the butters had silicones. you may want to check out the thread or search afroveda to be sure.

I wanted to look at denimpixie's videos but I couldn't open them on youtube for some reason. I also looked through the afroveda expose' thread again and I didn't see anything about the butters being made from a base. I may have missed it though since that thread has so much info.

Not the butters, but her conditioners are bases.
