Argan/Moroccan Oil penetrate hair shaft?

I was told by a hairdresser that it does, does it really? I only thought a few oils actually did like olive, avocado and olive.. anyone know for sure?

yes, argan oil does penetrate the hair shaft, there is nothing better then pure argan oil, i love the stuff, though it is rather pricey, you can buy it with other stuff in it, what i use has water soluble cones in it, but i dont get any build up. i love argan oil, my hair soaks it up like a sponge!

my hair: 3b, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
Oils and my own procuts are my hairs best friend

I see.. my hairdresser today used a leave in with argan oil but had cones, and although I washed my hair with a low 'poo I could still smell the argan oil in my hair and didn't really know if it truly penetrated the hair.. thanks!

i think it depends how much you use and how much time you give it. maybe it takes awhile for your hair

Most of the argan oil products that are hot on the market are nearly all cones and a few drops of argan oil. You are smelling the fragrance in the product, NOT the argan oil itself if this is what she used. Here are the ingredients for Moroccan Oil (brown bottle, Tiffany blue label):
Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, cyclomethicone, argania spinosa, kernel oil (argan oil), linseed (linum uitatissimum) extract, fragrance, D&C yellow-11, D&C Red-17

The first 3 ingredients are silicones and we know that the first few ingredients in a listing make up the bulk of what is in a product. If you knew that and chose to use it that is great. If an uneducated stylist is passing it off as all healthy, etc. that is wrong.
Real, actual 100% argan oil is a very different story. Now it is actually good for your hair.

thats right justajesuschick: real pure argan oil doesnt really smell that nice...... you do get used to it, but it might take awhile.

im not really sure, but i think that there all nasty cones, so you might have a bit of build up if your not used to cones.

I am going to start using pure argan oil on my hair at night, and leave it on overnight. I bought the argan to use on my skin as a facial moisturizer but I got more flaking for some reason. I currently use jojobo oil almost every night and leave it on until morning, so I will see how the argan does for me. I need to use it up -- I bought a huge bottle thinking it would be "the answer" for my skin.

woow ive never heard of that...... my skin n hair loves it! soaks it up like sponge. i use it on my face twice a day and its cleared up my acne, leaves my face soooo soft and is fading scars caused my acne. my hair loves it too, but i try not to use it on my hair cause i dont want to use it up so quick :( if you reacted so badly on your face, you might NOT want to put it on your scalp, rather sealing your ends. :profileleft:

I buy pure Argan oil from Camden Gray (it's selling so fast I had to wait 2 weeks for an order). This is the best oil for my skin & hair and I even make hair butter using mango butter & Argan oil.
