2 or 3?

So I've been trying to figure out what exactly my curl texture/pattern is? I was looking at the 2 and I think I'm more curly than that but the 3's I've seen I don't think I'm as curly as that.. :( I'm lost!!!

This is my hair:

Please help!!!

You might have some of both! I do. It's fairly common to have multiple curl patterns in your hair.

Lo-poo - Renpure Keratin, SMR, Giovanni SaS
clarifying - mix Johnson's H2T with low poo
Co-wash - Suave Nats. clar. or coco.
RO - GVPCB, Ion Eff. Care, TN.
LI - SMR, Cure Care, or RO
    Seal - MO or Jojoba
DT - + honey, ACV, & EVOO to SM masque & GVPCB
    PT - Gelatin!, CNPF
Styling - FSG, AIF, BRHG, LALS/PS, GF curl spray gel, SM Souffle/Smoothie, LOOB

Your hair looks like mine but thicker and with more root curl! I call it wurly :)
    CG since 12/01/2010!
    2c/3a thin BSL hair
Wish my hair was longer and fuller but it breaks off like crazy!

Hi Chrissy! I had the same problem when I was learning all the specifics on how to classify my own hair. While most of my hair is 2b I find more defined curls in some places (in the front), therefore making "some" of it 2c! Then there are some pieces that don't want to curl at all!

Now I'm not an expert but to me, it looks like you're hair has a few different patterns as well. At least a 2c and maybe some 3.

To make things even more complicated, most of us curlys would probably agree that if we went and chopped half the length off our hair, we'd have more definition and find ourselves in a whole new category. Just a thought...

Yeah, to me your curls look too loose and wavy to be a 3. I'd say you're in the 2 range; probably 2c with some 2b mixed in.

(Be sure to determine your hair properties, too, however.)
