Appearance of waves is changing

rapunzel4everrapunzel4ever Posts: 557Registered Users
When I just started the (mod) CG method my hair became more wavy and curly wavy, but now my hair appears to be more like long stretched spirals. With spiral hairstrings that spiral around eachother, like long cables.
Could this have to do with cutting quite a bit of the length of my hair for the first time in years?

Does anybody else recognise this? Did any of you experienced the same change since being CG?

It seems like i've been preaching about this lately but what you describe sounds a lot like what happened to my hair when i was on the road to becoming oc'd. It was like someone took on of my wave/curls and pulled it down. Skinny spirals. What came next was frizzy, unmanageable hair.

You may wanna try and avc rince, sulfate wash or a PT+DT.

    This worked for me

Thanks for your advice, AmyP! I had other signals pointing that direction, but never guessed that the spiral strings were also a symptom of being oc'd. I had already very soft and unmanageable hair ;-) lately.

Mine is doing the exact same- especially the spirals wrapping around each other!!!! So a sulfate wash won't make it more frizzy???

A sulfate was may make it more frizzy, but only mildly and only for a short period of time. Your curls will be better formed afterward, so trust me it's worth it.

If you are unsure about the sulfate wash, you could try a ACV rinse first and see how that goes.

    Good luck to you both.

Could also be the changing of the seasons. With less humidity, you get less curl.

Thanks AmyP! I did a sulfate wash. Can't remember the last time my hair felt this thin, flyaway and straight. It felt soft at first, then it became static and frizzy. So I figured lack of moisture. Therefore I moisted my hair a bit and put some cocos oil in to prevent tangles and knots. I will see in the morning what my hair is like.

Any suggestions how to handle my hair from here?
    TIA

Note to myself: when I think I'm Oc'd first try some protein instead of clarifying!

I can't handle protein on a daily basis, but when hair is still looking good, only a bit 'hung down' it is good to add some protein in your routine instead of clearing it all from it's moisture. I clarified twice when I thought I was Oc'd and it was not good for me. It ripped my hair from it's much needed moisture creating different problems like waves falling apart and flyaways.
After looking at the pictures from Pittsburgh Curly I realised this.

Is that possible? I think my bangs are looking limp and I'm 4a...they go almost straight...
