Wedding Ideas

I'm getting married in May and I'm having one heck of a time trying to decide on a hairstyle. I'm wearing a fairly formal "ballgown" type dress, and I want to let my natural curls shine. So I'm looking for ideas that will let me wear a veil or something similar or other time honored classy ideas that will let my hair curl it its natural glory (with something in it for sparkle!) for my special day!

I have dark blond I guess 2C hair (although my hair is in ringlets and not waves, but it is very course and very very dry).

Hiya! I'm not sure how long your hair is, or how long you plan to have it at the time of your wedding, but I have a simple and easy, yet super-versatile hairstyle you could try out. It should work as long as your hair is at least shoulder length, though BSL or a little longer is probably best. I wear my hair like this all the time, and it's great to keep your curls off your neck when you're active, and goes effortlessly from daytime fun to evening glam.

Start by cleansing, conditioning, and styling your hair as usual, to make your curls look as awesome as possible, especially the bottom 1/2 to 1/3. Then put it in a low ponytail, and flip the pony up against the back of your head, and secure it with a clip (low on the pony where it's near your scalp) so that your curls sort of arrange themselves over the hair tie and clip. If your hair isn't quite long or thick enough and you're worried the clip might show and not look so great, you could always invest a little in a Ficcare clip to go with your dress. Otherwise, I just use a simple jaw clip to blend with my hair color, usually tortoiseshell. You can add a flower clip to one side, or easily tuck a veil or veil clip of some kind under the bottom of your beautiful curl pouf, while still showcasing your awesome curls.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and good luck!

I just got married, did my own hair, and I wore my hair down. My hair is about shoulder length. I had a very sparkly headband on, and a veil in the back. All I did was shower and use product as usual. Allow to air dry completely untouched as long as possible. (Showered at 8am, didn't touch until like 2pm). Then I just used bobby pins to clip random curls back. I left a strand of curl out front to be cute. And then I hairsprayed the living daylights out of it which was key to lasting through all night dancing. After our first dance I just plucked out the veil and had my curls on display.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the picture for me to actually see it ( I have a hard time just visualizing hair styles). My hair is about that length, and about the same type of curl (mine's just blonde). I think that's what I was looking for! I hope you don't mind if I steal your picture to show my stylist!

You're welcome, and feel free to use that photo. If you're curious about what the veil looked like in the back or any other angle just PM me. (I'm still in the phase where I'm excited to show off wedding photos haha).

This is a little off topic but you probably have 3a hair that is simply thick. Thats my problem with andre walker's hair typing system, you can have a certain curl diameter and a totally different hair strand diameter. For example I know plenty of 2cs with baby fine hair, and I know more 3as with coarse hair than with fine hair! Also, kaysara, that picture is beautiful! I absolutely love your hair!! :)

Hey! I am getting married the beginning of next month.

I am choosing to wear my hair mostly down with the front pinned up a bit. I beaded a veil for my curls that is kind of similar to this:

Golden Leaves Bridal Headpiece 24 karat gold by PhenomenaJewelry

On the day of my wedding (something I don't normally do). I will probably curl it with a spiral curler to make it slightly more "perfect" (bad I know... ironic that I will do the thing that makes me annoyed when other people do it :p)

I wish I had seen this before I posted my own thread asking for wedding hair help, whoops. I think I am in the same boat here (also a 2cish,coarse and dry!) and am deciding whether or not do do my own hair or straighten it and let a pro style it from scratch. I have no advice yet of course but I will gladly take in the advice already given!

kaysara you look lovely! yay for glasses, too. :] I'll be wearing mine as well.
