I need help with my hair..

I have no clue if I'm posting this in the correct area or not.. Sorry.

Ok so I have no clue what type of hair I have.
I was hoping somebody on here could help me figure this out.
I also have another problem my hair is really dry and a bit damaged. I've tried everything and nothing really seems to help. I recently started the no-poo treatment and it's helped but my hair always feels dry.. it's just eww. I use a Suave Naturals Cond.. the apple one. Then after I shower I leave some in as a leave in. I dont use any products after that because I'm clueless when it comes to that. :?
Any help is appreciated.

I've uploaded some pictures.
Hopefully that helps.

Thank-you. :happy3:

You might want to start off with a good deep conditioner. That may help you see and feel a difference right off. You can go to "Products" at the top of this page and on the far left, click "Product reviews". You can browse various deep treatment products and click on them to see if they're silicone free (since you mentioned you've started going no-poo). But there are lot of homemade deep conditioners people use, so you may want to click the Recipes forum here on nc.com or click on "Recipes" next to "Product Reviews" when you go to Products at the top of the page.

There's a LOT of info (I know. I"m pretty new here, too), but I learned a lot from also visiting LiveCurlyLiveFree.com. It'll introduce you to an understanding of the hair properties you'll need to know to take the best care of your hair -- texture, density, porosity, and elasticity.

And just so you know, when you start going no-poo (or Curly Girl method), unfortunately there's a transition period where your hair will seem to get worse before it gets better. It's not fun, but it really doesn't last too long. It's only because your hair has to readjust to not having sulfates that strip the natural oils from your hair and silicones that seal out moisture (assuming you're going no silicone, too, since you're doing no-poo that is). Your hair will respond well soon to the better care you're taking and products you're using.

    HTH. :)

Welcome and congrats on going cg! Before going cg my hair was always dry, but now it feels soft and moisturized. I'm on my iPod and it won't load the pictures, so I can't help there.
I agree that a deep treatment would be good. I use the Shea Moisture deep treatment. Walgreens and/or Target carry it. When I first started I used vo5 condish for the cowash, it just gives some slip to scrub your head. Then TRESSemme (think that how it spelled) Naturals Avocado & Aloe for the rinse out and leave in condish. I used Herbal Essence Tollaly Twisted Gel (it has a peg cone witch can be removed by cowashing) for styling and hold. All the products I listed can be found at a drug store. I have the products I'm using now listed in my sigy. The kinky curly curling custard gel is my fav. It's alittle expensive $16 for 8oz. $32 for 16oz.) but it dose not take much. The 8oz. lasts me 3months.

    Hope that helps!

The Suave conditioners aren't moisturizing enough to use as your rinse out/leave in. If your hair is damaged, you probably need protein in addition to the moisture.

It's good to determine your hair properties. Here's the link that was mentioned above: Live Curly Live Free - Home Best thing you can do is read, read and read more.

DT once a wk and to it add JOJOBA oil or avacado oil or almond oil. I use all three. 1 to 1 ratio and leave on for at least one hour. Sometimes overnight. Also try kinky-curly knot today leave-in conditioner. It's the only thing that has helped me. You can buy the KCKT at Target or Whole Foods. After a month of this, my hair is much softer. I still can't get 2nd day hair, but at least my hair feels soft the whole first day and nite only for the first 3 hours after scrunching out the gel cast.

    I hope this helps.
