Glad you started this thread! I just bought the deep treatment mask and curl enhancing smoothie. I applied the DTM on dry hair, clipped up and cleaned house... I did co-wash after 1 hour or so. Then applied the CES to wet hair as leave in followed by LA Look Sport gel.

As for the mask, I dunno. Wasn't crazy about the smell and not sure if it did all that much as far as deep conditioning. Have to use it a few more times. The smoothie, on the other hand, felt really nice going on and smells like pina colada! So far I do see less frizz and more shine so I guess it works!!!

Would like to know how others use these products and general thoughts/feelings on Shea Moisture...

Yeah I like it too but it seems like I can never get second day hair! How does the second day work out for you guys?

The smoothie is too heavy for my hair so i use the Milk. Im thinking of using their black soap hair line for my psoriasis. I saw their black soap dt at a Target near me.

Didn't get second day hair on it's own. I added a tiny bit of water and more smoothie and initially looked ok but I need something with more hold. Some people are able to use a little more smoothie next day for second day hair. I started a thread on a second day technique that's been working for me using LOOB. Will try that next time over the Shea moisture products and see what happens.

I love the Curl & Style Milk! Makes my hair feel super moisturized and it doesn't leave a white residue. I'm noticing lately that it makes my curls clump more.

The smoothie is super thick and not very emollient, so it takes some time to get used to. For my hair, I don't find it to be as moisturizing as the Style Milk. I'm still trying to work with it, but I find a little bit goes a looong way, and I can use it in lieu of gel some days.

This is really helping, I'm using the style milk but I'm still getting a little frizz maybe I should switch to the smoothie, have any of you tried the wen products? I'm thinking about trying them...

I started using the curl enhancing smoothie a few months ago and I LOVE it! I use it as a leave in every time I do my hair.
I've tried the other products in the line and none of them worked as well as the smoothie for my hair. But they came out with a NEW one just this week -its supposed to hit Walgreens and Targets all over and I can't wait!!!
There are a few other threads on this too... But from what I find, it's a HG for lots of us!
I use it with a gel over it too - usually LA Looks Curls or Bioterra... gives me great definition and almost zero frizz!
    enjoy!!!!!!
Tara - have a curly day!!!

Stargazer, how much of the curl and style milk do you use? I was thinking about getting it to use as a leave in. Your "super moisturized" and "more curl clumping" has me wanting to try this even more.

I use the hold and shine moisture mist. I love it. I use it over Kenra conditioner on wet hair. I think it's actually keeping my hair from sticking to my head after I take down my plop...could just be coincidence though. :)

Hi Curry, not very much at all. It has a somewhat thick consistency, so a couple squirts is all I need for my ponytail.

The smoothie is kind of like whipped butter? Thicker than KCKT. Comes in a jar so you have to stick your fingers in it to scoop some out. I think the milk comes in a pump bottle and is lighter (I haven't tried it since I have med-coarse hair and don't mind heavier products). I'm liking it so far.

Yay, I get to help! I use the milk as a leave-in, it comes in a squeeze bottle and isn't super thick. Definitely not as thick as I imagine the smoothie to be. I can tell it makes my hair softer. I'm anxious to try the souffle that comes out tomorrow, if my Walgreen's carries it. If anyone gets it tomorrow, report back ASAP!

Yes. I use the spray. I really like it. I use it on wet hair. My daughter uses it on dry hair.

I'm going to try the leave in this morning. :)

This website has some info on the SM souffle gel including ingredients. I'm not fond of the fact that SM puts "essential oil blend" on their ingredient list. What essential oils???

ETA: here's a link to our own nc.com about it, too.

Bleck! I did not like the curl and style milk. I gave it to my youngest. I think it will work better in her hair. Back to my old faithful Kenra. I still like the spray though. It works well over the Kenra.

Does either the milk or smoothie actually help enhance curls or waves?

I can't speak for the smoothie, but the milk made my hair stringy. The curls weren't as curly either. I have 3b fine thinnish hair. My daughter is also a 3b, but her hair is thick and coarse. It made hers stringy too. She doesn't like it either.

Maybe it's good for shaving. :)

yes! the smoothie is amazing - it's the only thing I've found that really gives me great definition and leaves my hair soft too - I tried the other products like the milk and spray ,,, they didn't work too well. I'm on the look out for this souffle' - sounds pretty nice too! It's supposed to have hit shelves on 8/28... but so far, no one has it... :(
The smoothie - with gel - for me - is an amazing combo for definition and good clumping too!!!! :)

I bought the curl and shine kit and the repair& transition kit. They were on sale a few weeks ago. That gave me eight products to try.
76430229025_220x220_e.jpgin the curl & shine line, I really like the smoothie the best, I've used it for pre poo, and for leave in. The mist smells nice but I'm not sure its for me, the shampoo is very nice, the curl and style milk I could take it or leave it. I'll probably use them all up but just buy the smoothie in full size.
76430228026_220x220_e.jpgin the repair & transitoion kit I love what the shampoo, conditioner, and mask can do to smooth my coarse hair. I would not use them all at once. That would be too oily. I have used a tiny bit of the elixir spray as a pre poo. Literally one squirt into my palm was plenty for my whole head.I have also used the mask that way. This line smells very strongly of sandalwood.

I think the challenge with the Shea Moisture products
is that they don't really tell you what order to use them in, and in what combination.

I think if I had to choose two products to re order from the combinatiion of these lines they would be
the curl enhancing smoothie and the moisture retention shampoo.

Now I'm waiting for the gel to come out.

I love the Shea moisture line & have picked a few things out of each line that I like. The curl enhancing smoothie from the coconut &hibiscus is my fav, for moisturizing, twist outs & braid outs. the restorative smoothie & the moisturizing shampoo from the raw Shea butter line are my fav's also, I've added some of my fav oils to the bottle of the restorative conditioner (grape seed, blend of other oils) It's very moisturizing! The purification masque from the African black soap line is my staple deep conditioner. Smells awesome and leave my hair sooo soft & moisturizer. I have 4a/4b hair and it's wonderful for my coils/kinks. Makes my hair manageable and soft.

I recently decided to to try SheaMoisture since it was so easy to go to the local Walgreens and give it a go. I have never been able to find the raw butter conditioner but did get the shampoo, curl milk and smoothie. Unfortunately, I think I have discovered my hair doesn't like protein. I usually start out thinking my hair looks great but after a few hours when it's completely dry, it's just so big and puffy. I've tried mixing in other products but I still get the same result. I was really looking for a new cleanser and conditioner to switch things up. I've been using devacare and Ouidad curl quencher for awhile now and just thought it was time. Now I'm thinking about Curl Junkie but I haven't really looked at the ingredients yet. What stinks is there are no curlies in my lifet to give this stuff too!
3a or b depending on the weather, medium texture, pretty dense, normal porosity.
Have to be careful of protein
    cowash: Elucence and CJDF
    conditioners: AOHR, CJHB deep fix,
LI: currently liking Marie Dean Mango Detangler, KCKT
Stylers: Usually mix very small amounts of BRHG with CJCIAB, HETT, DMMCG or whatever is under the sink and might work that day!
Latest discovery: Marie Dean Amla Hair Creme Proless works great on top of any gel combination. Well, at least in the current low dews!

just tried the new "souffle" - guess I'll have to "test it" out some more... I used it with the smoothie - which, I ADORE! But I'll try it out alone too . Left my hair a little "oily" feeling, too much sheen (yes, if it's possible!) I love the consistency though! has great texture.
