What's the best way to layer products on hair

iRockMyCurls!iRockMyCurls! Posts: 25Registered Users
So I have low porosity and it takes awhile for my hair to absorb my products ... I normally co wash, condition, use a LI (most are creamy), seal with a oil then use a gel. My question is should I apply all one after the other or let some absorb then proceed. If so which ones would I do first and how long before the other? I'm trying to avoid my hair looking like a white mess!:dontknow:

I let my leave in sit for about 30 minutes to an hour (with a conditioning cap) to let it absorb. While it's still damp I seal with an oil and then add gel when I'm doing twists. Hope that helps.

I don't have low porosity hair but I wait about 15min before putting my sealer over my leave-In then I wait an hour or so before I use my styler. Long process but I do my hair weekly with minimal re-moisturizing.

I'm really short on time so I just layer and diffuse. The heat helps tremendously.

I will have to try leaving my leave-in on for 15 min. this sounds very effective. What I normally do is leave-in, gel, and seal with oil.

I apply my leave in on damp to dry hair, and knot it up (bantu) to absorb as I go along...Then I go back take the knots down and seal

Is this about shingling? I'm still confused on that process as well.

Is this about shingling? I'm still confused on that process as well.

I think it's just general. I also get mixed up about shingling. Have never had any desire to try it though (seems loooong!). This seems legit - video - although for some reason I think I thought shingling was done on sopping wet hair. What am I confusing it with? Plopping? :grommit:
Anyway, I need some of those weird looking clips in my life. The cheap ones I have can only hold my hair in small sections.
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse. :happy6:

After i rinse out my conditioner i section with clips. I blot each section with a microfiber towel to get excess water then add leave in. I end up with about 6 to 8 sections that I twist and clip up. Without the clips my hair would unravel. I leave it for about 20 minutes then go to oil or butter or gel. Then I can make my small twists which will hold. When i used to do everything right after the other my hair would always be white.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it. :wav:
