need conditioner suggestions

So I've officially established that my hair loves protein. It's also very dry - esp now that I'm past the 3 month mark from my last haircut (trying to grow it out so aiming to go 6 months without one)

My current RO which I use on wash days is good - detangles, gives my hair a decent protein boost, softens - but isn't moisturizing enough lately. I need another RO that has protein but is also moisturizing.

I'm looking at AO GPB but nervous because AOHR was too heavy for regular use for me. How does GPB compare to AOHR in terms of richness/weighing hair down? Is it a good shot of protein?

Any other conditioners that you would suggest? I prefer natural brands that aren't too expensive.

TIA!!

I've never used the AOHR but just read somewhere else on these boards that it was the most moisturizing conditioner the poster had ever used. So maybe that's why it felt too heavy for you.

I use the GPB and love it. My hair always has a better curl when I use it. I came to it via my Curl Genie analysis, which said not to use it too often b/c it was a heavy dose. So, at least according to that, it is a big shot of protein. I've been using it pretty frequently, though, & my hair hasn't turned to straw. :-)

I do wish my hair looked less dry though. I have been experimenting with more moisture/less protein (although my recommendation in the Curl Genie was not to go heavy on the moisture but to stress protein more) & that hasn't seemed to help. I don't have the patience many of my fellow CGers seem to have in experimenting, however, so perhaps there's a solution out there. I'm just too lazy to keep trying new things.

Anyway, I love love love the GPB & think you should try it!

Gel Looking for a replacement for the discontinued LAL blue gel. Also thinking I need a low- or no-humectant gel for high-dew days, but haven't figured that one out.

Thanks! AOGPB will be on my next order from vitacost.

Funny - my curlgenie profile said I was medium texture, normal porosity and normal elasticity so I should focus on moisture and not protein.

But my hair can't seem to get enough protein. I mean I'm doing weekly PTs, using a protein RO after every wash and using protein LI daily. And my hair is not damaged - even before CG, I probably used heat on my hair 2-3x in two years and did a semi-permanent color 3x in that time. But it's sucking up proteins!

So - go with what works for your hair and not what they told you :)

Some people use Ion effective care as a rinse out. Or you could mix it with a rinse out conditioner.
