The braids could be working against your effort if they are pulling or too tight. Often hair loss is caused by and/or worsened by mechanical manipulation such as pulling , tugging, rubbing that is caused by headband worn too tight or too often, combing, brushing, other hair accessories, constantly slicking the edges back, etc If you must wear the braids, make sure they are not too tight and you are able to massage that area with a stimulator such as Rosemary oil. Alot of patience is needed as from what I see from others with this problem, it's a long process.

I am having the same issue. The one side seems to be thickening up but the other side is moving so slow. I made my own pomade of shea, coconut oil, jojoba, castor, vit e n evoo. Its been slowly helping.
Ive been using emu oil, jojoba oil and amla. I massage it in at night for a few minutes and then sleep on it.
I have the same issue as you. Both emu and amla have been said to be more benificial in stimulating folicles and helping hair grow in thicker especially in balding areas.
Do some research on them! I havent been using it for long but it gives my hair a non greasy shine check it out and see if its for you

I suffered from traction/tension alopeica which is caused by all of what naturallycreole said. If you continue to get braid, leave the edges out to relieve the stress on them. I have been wearing satin scarfs to cover the area while I am out (work, shopping, visiting.....). Oil the area and genly massage it everyday. Taking a multi vitamin also help. Patience, patience, patience.....it can take months before you see a difference.

I know I'm commenting on this 2 years later, but those results are amazing! I wonder if the nu-grow is free of mineral oil and such.
