"rest assured all things will be okay...pray and give thanks daily...he will never leave you nor forsake you...in his arms you are blessed and at peace...so even when times are rough sleep quietly pray and be strong things will work out"

my hair has been through a lot of bad cuts and a lot of heat damage due to the desert but in two years time(when the cutting began) i am from ear length to bsb and still growing with two sl cuts last year god is good

Miconazole Nitrate is the active ingredient that is supposed to influence hair growth. I tried it a while ago and I didn't experience any shedding or anything bad when I stopped. I used the equate brand. I applied it to my scalp. I don't use it now and haven't for over a year, but I don't have any reservations about using it. If it's safe for the down there region, it can't be bad for your scalp. Some people may disagree but that's how I see it. Sure it isn't intended for that location but neither is toothpaste for pimples. Still works.lol

I was probably consistent with it for about a month and I remember getting pretty good results. Maybe like a quarter inch more. I didn't measure though and it's been a while so I don't remember every detail. But if I experienced anything horrible or bad/unsatisfactory I'm sure I'd remember that. I do remember that back then I wasn't retaininig a lot of length in general though because my hair was damaged so I bet if I tried it again in conjunction with my regimen now, I'd probably see really good results since I'm better with growth retention now.

I've realized I'm not consistent with this type of stuff in general though. I've tried to be, with the MN, the sulfur, but I just can't keep up with it. I try. I have a lot of sulfur left so I'm gonna try to use that up. Idk if I'd revisit this stuff again. I'm not against it though

yea i was just reading i have been natural for a while and not doing anything i have length (just stumbled across this website not too long ago) so i just purchased castor oil wish weighed down my straight hair...i have naturally oily hair a quite contradiction to being curly so it went super straight after a night so im ready to wash it (its only been 2 days) and maybe i will give it a try

i may wait and see if this castor oil is going to help some im not all about length tho i just want healthy hair...

so who knows maybe next month i will give it a try or while im on vacation sorta in cali next week

I may have to try this now. Thanks for the info. So what's the deal though, you would apply it on your scalp like an oil? How often would you do it?

My hair loves: Vatika and Bhringraj oils, adores henna.
My HGs: Bobeam's shampoo bars, CJAO, CJRM, Original Moxie's Hair Bling, Terressentials,

You mix it in an oil of your choice and apply it to your scalp as often as you'd like. When I did it I used it every other day. You have to be cognizant of your own sensitivities and scalp needs though.

Thanks so much for clarifying. I was thinking you would just apply this directly to the scalp with no oils. I'll be picking some up tomorrow and mix it with jojoba oil. So does it have to be the monistat or will any other yeast infection cream do?

You don't have to use that brand. I used the equate brand because it was cheaper. I don't remember other brands as I haven't used it in a long time.

I suggest using this with caution first go around though to gauge your sensitivities.

I used it for almost 3 months, havent used it in almost 3 wks. Everything still seems fine. Hair is thicker and longer. My edges got thicker, but they still wouldnt get much longer (they still had breakage). It did give me headaches the 1st couple of wks, the day after I would apply it.

Not really. I mixed it with grape seed oil and a bit of water and it's basically an odorless mix.

Anybody have an exact recipe for this??

Does it have to be applied directly onto the scalp or can I add it to my water spray bottle and use it like that??

You dont want to get it on your hair, just your scalp. It can dry the hair out. I used 1in of monistat, mixed with 2-3 tbsp of warm water, and a few drops of jojoba oil. I put mine in a small bottle and shook it until monistat dissolved. My bottle had a pointed tip so I could easily apply straight to the scalp. Then I would massage it for a few minutes. After 1month, I increased to 2in of monistat, but used same amount of water and oil.

I've been dying to try this but I don't spend $13 on ANY product without feeling pretty good about it. How long does one tube last and how often do I apply?

I'm about 4in away from APL and I would love it by Christmas:bounce:

I did it every other day before bed. I bought the 7day prefilled applicators. With one prefilled applicator I was able to make 3 or 4 of my 'concoctions' (I was eyeballing the 1 and 2 inches, so it was never exact). I would get like 3 applications out of each bottle of my mixture. So it really wasnt bad. I actually just started doing it again tonight because I have been talking about it. I just have a hard time staying consistent. I want to do another 3mo. But be aware of the headaches. I had them for the first couple of weeks, usually 8-12 hours after I applied it.

Lol! I know it's bizarre but it might have been that they noticed some strange hair growth in the nether regions :evil4:

I figure it's worth a shot. If me and many others could put Sodium Hydroxide on our hair(and sometimes scalp by mistake) for many years, a little of this should be fine.

Do you rinse it out? Or does the white cream blend in?

I have a small tube of external Canesten cream that came with the Canesten tab I bought a while back. The tube says not to use for more than 7 consecutive days at a time. Would this rule also apply to your scalp?
Hair type: Mostly 3C, medium porosity to high porosity depending on the day, dense, fluffy, dry, tangly!

From the research I have done what Im getting is that the active ingredient in monistat can kill fungus all over your body. So when you have a fungal infection on your scalp monistat is not prescibed, but something else with miconazole nitrate or similar is prescribed. Its similar to clotrimazole (sp) which is used for yeast infections, or any other fungus..athletes foot, jock itch, ring worm n yes ring worm on the scalp. I dont know who figured out it makes your hair grow, but when I heard this I did alot of research then I went for it and it worked. It may not work for everyone. Some say that if you have some fungus on your scalp thats stunting growth this will get rid of it therefore hair will grow when fungus is killed. I have also heard it increases the circulation to the scalp to fight the fungus, increased circulation makes the hair grow (but increased circulation can also give headaches). Ladies, Im not a doctor or scientist, so I dont know how accurate any of this is. I heard it worked, I researched, I chose to believe and chose to try it. And it worked for me. I think everyone should research it and then make their own decision. Good luck! :o)

BTW, you can use clotrimazole for hair growth instead of MN.

I didnt rinse out. I washed my hair once or twice a week as normal. You cant see the cream, it dissolves into the scalp. Make sure you massage it in for a few minutes. I prefered to not do it right before washing because I wanted it to sit on my scalp so it would do its job.

Yes you can use for more than 7 days. The reason they tell you to only use for 7days is because if you have an STD that you are mistaking for a yeast infection it wont go away after 7days of meds, so you should see a doctor for a new diagnosis. But for fungus on other parts of your body the medications are prescibed for longer. Fungus is pretty stubborn, so it can take a while of using an antifungal to get rid of it. (and yes that includes antifungals on the scalp)

Edit: sorry just saw that you were talking about the external itch cream. Im not sure what the active ingredients are in your cream. But depending on what else is in that could be why that particular cream should be used for only 7days. The above applies only to antifungals.

I am actually on day 4 of using MN, I found a tube in my drawer and luckily it hasnt expired LOL. I got a slight headache the first day but I used a light mix with water.. the second day I added oil to what I had left and .. less headache.. third day pure oil and zero headache and I applied it twice. Im documenting everything for a review but in the few days since i started, I can tell its working. I used a rough spot at the top of my spine.. straining.. now the tips and brushing it easily...woooooooo lets see where this goes!

I started it a few days ago. I'm kind of prone to headaches and migraines so I don't know if they're from the mn or just bizness as usual. Unfortunately at a certain point in the day I'm kind of used to my head hurting almost to the point where I don't notice it :(
