my experience

After my third child, I had lots of shedding, and my hair looked less dense all over. And the shed would just continue even after showering, if I kept combing, it kept shedding. It had times of less and got better, but my density never completely returned. I was eventually diagnosed with PCOS, and am on meds, but still lots of shed lately, over 100.; I feel like some of it is due to teh trying to wash my scalp well, withj lots scrubbing, not nails, but lots of manipulation, and then the comb through, then the scrunching many tijes with different products. and there is shed throughout all of this. so it is like 150. give or take. ANy thoughts on this? someone said 35-40 per day is normal, but I've always read 50-100 and I do wash my hair daily( water only or low poo) and I still get that amount daily. :nemo:

I always thought 100 strands per day were the norm. However, I could be wrong. I will do more reseacrh on that. Also, if you feel you are shedding mor ethan normal, trying a low manipulation method may prove beneficial for you. I would start there.

If you can check on the norm for shedding daily, I'll research low manipulation method. Haven't heard of that. Thanks

ok. In a quick search I couldnt really find anything 100% concrete as to a number. However, this answer makes sense that the average will be different depending on your hairs life cycle and the number of follicles you have to begin with.

No you're absolutey right. That's why then people who say average is only 35-40 are crazy, because there's a definite range. Not one little average for all. I appreciate you finding me that answer. I just hope now that people like me (I never get past middle back so my life cycles are probably 3-4) have more life cycles of my hairs. Because a doctor told me each hair only has so many life cycles, between 10-12. So that means I'd be bald by the time I'm 40 because every 3 years they fall out right :-)) Guess we can't believe everything they tell us. That can't be right. Who knows!! Thanks again.
