La Bella Lots of Curls Gel

So I'd been reading around the board about this gel, but never saw a full out review, so I figured I'd at least share my experience with this particular gel. Now, I had been looking for a gel that had similar results to KCCC, but without the expensive price tag. I went to my local BSS (but this can be purchased in Walmart and CVS as well) and saw this huge sized bottle for 3.29. So I said why not.

I did my wash and go with it and paired with my leave in and sealant, it left a bit a white residue which later dried clear with a crazy crunch. It offered great clumping, and I figured I wouldn't SOTC, but let it soften over the course of a few days so I'd have multiple day hair.

Out of 5 stars, I'd give this gel 4 stars. I'm sure I could find something better . . but I think I'm still on the hunt for a gel that doesn't contain protein.

The ingredients are as follows (from Walmart):

Deionized Water, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Pvp, Propylene Glycol, Carbopol, Cocus Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Lanolin, Triethanolamine, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylparaben, Polysorbate-20, Benzophenone-4, Isosteareth-20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, Menthol, D&C Red No. 33.

Unfortunately I think certain bottles have different formulas . . .

The bottle I have says:

Water, Sorbitol, PVP, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Potassium Sorbate, Keratin Amino Acids, Sodium Chloride, Hydroxypropylcellulose, Aminomethyl Propanol, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Benzophenone-4, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, RED 33.

I don't feel like I wasted money, cause it was only $3.29 after all, but knowing my coarse hair and protein, this gel may only be around for the summer or until I find something else that can top it and it's price.

I love this gel. But my gel routine is weird because I have several textures in my hair. No kidding. This is the gel I use first almost as it were a serum, then I put a heavier gel on top.

I tried the LA Looks Curl (the old formula) and it didn't work for me. I do like the LA Looks Sport, however.

Wow, I can't imagine using something thicker or heavier than this gel. It's hard to spread through my hair as is and I have A LOT of hair.

I've been using this as well, as my last step. It's thick and I don't like that but I don't use a lot... I'm trying to find the balance with it between not enough and no hold, and too much crunch. It's not awful. Not perfect either.
 fine, thin, normal/(low?) porosity. Mod-CG. Usually I can't co-wash more than 1x a week, & sometimes I have to use T-Gel in rotation due to scalp issues.

    Co-wash: VO5 Volumizing
    Poo: Giovanni 50:50
RO:TN, Nexxus Youth Renewal, Alba Coconut
    LI: KCKT
    PT: gelatin PT, ION EC
Stylers: Giovanni mousse, TIGI Curls Rock amplifier (a-cone), Curls Rock Strong Hold Mousse
    Gels: SCC spray gel

    It's a tricky gel, I do agree.

I'm tempted to put this bottle on the swap boards, I've only used it once and it still looks full.
