FrannieGoytFrannieGoyt Posts: 114Registered Users
Hi everyone! Im pretty sure I have normal porosity hair so from what I think I know I need moisture and protein...... Right? So I mainly use coconut oil in my hair I know it has moisture and Idk if it has protein but I heard it keeps protein in. It works well for my hair but is it actually GOOD for my hair type? Thanks :)

Coconut is actually a sealant. It doesnt moisturize your hair but it will lock moisture in. I use it daily after I put my leave in on my hair

ive also heard it acts for many like protein because its the only oil with small enough molecules to be able to penetrate the hair shaft and actually help dmaged hair from the inside not just coating it..
    Lo-poo:organix Shea butter shampoo
    Co-wash: suave coconut
    Rinse out:GFTN/GVP conditioning balm
Leave in: GF daily care spray leave in
    Serum-like product: still need one
    Gel:LA looks sport gel/ HESMU,GFPC
    Oils: olive, coconut

    I think I'm normal-overly porous, medium-thick hair(although I see fine hair too), love protein

Coconut oil actually DOES moisturize your hair. It is one of a few oils that actually does penetrate the hair shaft. It does not have protein in it but it does help prevent protein loss which will make your hair stronger and appear thicker.

I actually started using coconut oil back in January. I use it as an overnight DT (which my hair is very well moisturized after), I add it to my whipped shea butter as well. Coconut oil is great for those that it works for. Unfortunately as with everything else, because everything does not work for everyone it may be a bust for some people however I for one LOVE IT and it has become a permanent part of my reggie!

My hair recently has started liking things it was previously "meh" about. Coconut oil feels amazing to my hair now. Every product that has it as an ingredient gives my hair such long-lasting moisture and smoothness it's insane. Love it.

My hair feels great when I use coconut oil, wet or dry. When I'm having a bad hair day, I usually reach for my coconut oil as my first step to get something going with my hair.

I'm still new and experimenting but I have coconut oil and I have tried it a few times but it always leaves my hair feeling coated, dirty and dull - I can't understand why. Maybe I should try it when my hair is still wet to see if it seals in the wetness while the curls are still together? I want coconut oil to work because I like the idea of it (and when I was young I used to use mineral oil in my hair to try to get it more smooth and less frizzy/pouffy - so I think adding an oil is the right thing to do)
