Tips on straightening hair via Roller Set (on 4a hair)??

I'm thinking of wearing my hair straight for a while. regardless, I want to straighten it on my own then go to the hair cuttery and get a trim by the stylist my mom trusts.

Anyway a friend of mine always used roller sets to get her hair straight. I've watched a few videos for it as well, and even though it might not be less heat (I'm going to run a flat iron over it lightly after wrapping, maybe) it's not the harsh manipulation+heat that comes with blow drying. I hate all that pulling on my hair while heat is blasting on it.

Anyway, what tips do you all have?

What product is best? I'm thinking of the setting product (Wrap and Roll) from the Jane Carter Solution line.

My hair is 3A-B but when I do a roller set I like a product called Infusium 23. You can get it in any drugstore. You use it before using other products. It doesn't give hold (or very little) it just adds softness and pliability. It does have cones though, so if you are CG, it isn't a good idea.

I know someone with 4A hair who does a roller set very successfully. Her hair is quite thick and it doesn't seem damaged. I complimented her and she said that she does a roller set and her hair isn't relaxed. It looks good. I don't know what product she uses, though. Good luck with this - I'm sure if you find the right product, you'll have a good result.

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....
