I have only had work experience in one type of area since college. I have to move out of that field and get a job doing something else. How do you take the focus off the fact that you only have experience in one field?

I would focus less on the TASKS you've performed in your jobs and more on the SKILLS you used/developed.

Think about the skills required for the postion for which you're applying. Have you used those skills in your work experience? Highlight those.

Set the resume up as skills-based. My resume starts with my objective, of course, but then below that I have a bulleted list of skills. After that I have the chronological list of the jobs I've held, and then my education.

Others may have better ideas, but this is what has worked for me.
