Styling Failures

Hey Fellow Curlies,

Have any 3c's developed a fail-proof styling technique that gets them perfect clumped, defined, frizz-free curls every time? Whenever I see someone raving about a styling method on here, they're always 3b and below. I feel like I've tried everything, but maybe I'm just not doing them right. Your help is greatly appreciated :-)

Don't touch your hair while it's drying to prevent frizz.

Refresh your curls as needed throughout the day.

I pretty much do wngs 24/7, using only conditioner and a bit of oil, and I have defined curls, and little frizz. The definition wears off throughout the day since I ride my bike wearing a helmet. Wearing a scarf under my helmet helps though.

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)

Heyyy, I subscribe to KimmayTube :-) I love her videos (and her hair), so I guess I'll have to check out her leave-in tutorial when I get home. And I rarely ever touch my hair when it dries. My main problem is that I can never get my roots to curl like the ends of my hair. Even after two treaments this week (one moisture, one protein) I just can't get them to clump on their own.:sad8:

Somewhere, I think its in this 3c forum, there is a thread dedicated to how folks are achieving the perfect wash-n-gos. I've detailed my step-by-step method along with a number of others; really good info on methods as well as specific products used. I've been doing wngs since the spring but am about to change it up a bit and do a wet braidout.

If there isn't already an existing thread about this, Im sure it would get a lot of activity to discuss experiences with the Kimmaytube leave-in.

Ok, I'll definitely go look for it. But I figured out what my problem was: I was underconditioning my roots! Rookie mistake...This time, when I did my WnG this morning, I made sure to put extra conditioner at my roots and they curled right up :-)

I do about 10 sections, and I smooth each section with conditioner and gel, using my fingers to comb and smooth at the same time. I let it air dry and I'm good to go! I allow it to be slightly crunchy, and I sleep on it, which gives me 2nd day hair. If I SOTC then it will be frizzy in the morning. I know that might sound weird but it works for me lol. I wouldn't say it's failproof, but it has been my most successful technique yet.
