Cleansing conditioners

Hey all,

I'm thinking of buying a cleansing conditioner, either CJ Daily Fix or Darcy Botanicals Daily Cleansing Conditioning Cream. I've tried the Daily Fix in the past but I think the protein in it pulled out my waves and left them limp. I'm willing to give it another go though because my hair can tolerate a lot more protein now than in the past.

Thoughts? Haven't heard much about DB Cleansing Cream though.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC
gels: CJ CQ, CJ Pattern Pusha, BRHG

I used to use CJDF a lot, but it made my hair limp over time. I just recently got the new Queen Helene shampoo, conditioner, and styling creme, and because the conditioner has BTMS in it, I've been using it as a co wash and I really like it! My hair has a lot of body after using it, unlike with the CJDF. I still alternate between low poos and cleansing conditioners, but the Queen Helene co has risen above the CJDF for me. Plus, it's much much cheaper than CJDF.

There's a cleansing conditioner by Silk Naturals that's really nice. I think there's actually 2 of them; a coconut one and a cranberry one. I used the coconut one as a DT but it's technically for co-washing. Here's the link - Silk Naturals :viking:

Here is a thread that will give you some info re: CJDF and DBCC. I use and like them both. HTH

Just another thought...I wonder if you watered down CJDF if it would cause as much limpness. I keep a watered down version of DF in the shower and do feel it is lighter this way. (I got this idea from kathymack).

Just checked that product. It has Dimethicone in it.

    Ingredients:
Water,Aloe leaf juice,Glycerin,Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Water, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil,Cetyl Alcohol,Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate,Cetearyl alcohol, Behentrimonium choride, ethyl alcohol,Hydrolyzed Wheat Protien,Sea Kelp Powder,Dimethicone,Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract,Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract,Panthanol dl, Fragrance or essential oils

I was going to mention the Silk Naturals, too. I'm surprised they don't get more "buzz" on nc.com. Not sure what's cleansing about either one of them. I use them as rinse out/leave in.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely look into the Silk Naturals products. Is the silicone in the Cranberry one water soluble?

I totally missed the Trimethylsilylamodimethicone! Maybe because it's near the end and I didn't read the ingredients carefully enough and thought it was a preservative. I've only used it a few times in the month that I had it, so didn't really experience build up. It's related to amodimethicone and Coco B will remove it. I guess I didn't have any issues because I use CJ Daily Fix every few weeks.

I don't understand which chemicals are considered not so great and why since I've really only started to take care of my hair a bit better. Would anyone be able to make a list for me? Only when my hair started falling a few years ago did I find out that sulfate could be the cause, so I stopped using products with that ingredient on my hair. What else should I look out for? Thanks.

In general, it's sulfate (which strip the hair) and silicone (products ending in 'cone, xane and conol, I think.) There are preservatives that end in "one." They are always near the end of the ingredient lists--we frequently get questions about that. Some of us have other ingredients that our hair HATES. For me, that would be castor oil, mineral oil and polyquats.

Thanks. Actually I just ordered my first product from curlmart.com. Looking forward to finding a great new conditioner and styling product. Any recommendations on good conditioners? I ordered Curl Junkie Coffee Coco curl creme lite for styling.
